the maha 9000 is one of the best for individually charging cells....
that charger can help you to match your aaa cells for optimum performance....

now for a discharger you want something that discharges at a true working amperage. The maha can discharge but at a 1 amp max....
If you get a Novak Smart Tray you can discharge your cells at 2.7 amps(true working amperage of a aaa cell in a mini z) Look on here and you can find a used one fairly cheap...I got mine for $25. The novak tray is designed for sub c cells but aaas fit nicely....

So the Novak Smart Tray will work with the AAA and AA batteries?

I have a Maha 9000 and its been hit and miss on charging AAAs. The Maha (Powerex) AAAs I have do not sit right in the charger - hard to explain, but they will not make good enough connection to run in the 9000. The neg end for AAAs is at an angle and that causes some not to sit right with the connection - they slip in front of it an do not connect. When you let them move up to connect, they don't "stay in". The Energizer AAAs I have fit and work fine in the 9000. I've never had any probs with AAs in the 9000.

I also use a Maha MH-C204F - it has no probs fitting any type AAA I've tried, and works for AAs as well. I use this to charge AAAs.

Checkout Thomas Distributing - Maha dealer, seel just about everything else battery wise for electronics.

i would say get the radio shack universal charger. It can charge/discharger up to 8 AA and AAA. it can also do the same to C, D, and 9 volt batteries

The smart tray works awesome....it will condition your cells like nothing else out there. This is individual cell discharging along with a maha charger..
your aaa s will be "glowing" with power...hehe

Really! For the SMart tray will I have to bend the tabs to fit the batteries. What is the best discharge rate and lowest voltage.

the tabs bend easy (dont break)..the discharge amperage is fixed....(2.7a)
you just set your cut off voltage hold. I use .7 volts

Thats a pretty healthy discharge rate - my Maha 204F uses something like 0.4amp. Obviously, 2.7a would be way quicker, but is it going to impact batt life? I guess since this is prior to re-charging anyway, there's not a lot of watts being dumped, prob hits lvc pretty quickly??

Neat though, I have a smart tray thats just been sitting, now can put it back to work and get some use out of it.

I dont get to race as often as I would like and my aaas become in various states of charge... using the smart tray I work them out like i was racing....
it keeps the cells from going flat....this way when I do race i know what to expect from my batteries....
I learned this trick from my buddy an avid 1/10 scale racer.....
the proof in how good it works the fastest guy at the track where I race uses the smart tray he has won now 5 weeks in a row holds the track record for the most laps and I believe he also has the fastest lap....

if i not mistaken dicharging the cell at low amp will "train" the battery to be flat. if i get a discharger that discharge 3 amp will be too much for the AAA cell?

if i do it too often will it kill the batt faster?
