Well like title says ... deciding if i should upgrade.
I been running M18 R3, FX-Pro, Brushed 19t+ 370 with 6cell 7.2 1600nimh
I get decent speeds,... i am still fine-tunning Steering.
RC18B with a XPS Micro, Brushed 370 Stock with 6cell 7.2 1600nimh
Bound to this set up since we only have stock class
and i am still noob at offroad (Having a blast though)
Both set ups run well on the track, Technically i can keep up with some of the standard brushless setups,
except the freaks that run like these crazy fast kv Brushless with lipo but they never allowed on the track if there is a event.
So my thought is should i upgrade now or wait for All brushless systems to come down to a same standard official kv rating like the Brushed motors.
Thats the only thing that kept me off the Brushless, you never know if that Combo is faster than the competitors and they have the same kv rating on them.
ESC wise the only one that appeals me was the Teking RS Pro but i was looking around of there are any other good quality ESC for bruhless/Brushed at same time w/o any luck.
I gots alot mroe question but i dunno where to start -_-
Give me some inputs... if i should upgrade or wait.
i think the novak mongoose is the deal. i run the 10.5 and keep up with the 1/10 buggies. its fast but not too fast.

Plus it is also sensored so you don't have to worry about cogging which is a good thing, especially when it comes to racing. Plus you will also be able to use the Mongoose speed controller with brushed motors as well so it is truly a very versatile esc.

Is that Sensored only or both ???
Thats the 2nd ESC so far i seen that does both Brushed abd Brushless.
Any others known to handle both ???
does it have a flat surface on the side to be mounted side ways ???
Do any official events allow micro brushless ???
The Mamba ESCs can run both brushed and brushless (sensorless) motors. There is currently no national governing body for mini/micro racing, therefor the specs/restrictions are left entirely up to the event coordinator.
Mini Offroad Nationals is this coming weekend and there will be plenty of brushless setups. Heck, the handout motors for most all stock classes will be mamba 4200kv brushless motors.
Foe your first BL setup, I'd say go with the mongoose combo as it feels more like a brushed ESC/motor setup. You could also run an RS or RS Pro if your worried about stressing the Goose ESC. The CC combos (micro sidewinder and micro pro) are also great choices for the M18 and 18B and their product support is second to none.
I really like the RS Pro but at this points its too much of a hit on my wallet.
And 1/10 scale stuff on a 1/18 scale always better i think less strain but thats personal prefrences. Always trying to cram 1/10 scale items into a 1/18 scale LOL
The Mongoose seems apealing but its design is Bulky i cant fit it how i like it in my M18.
And like above person stated Brushless hasnt been 100% standartnized yet
Should i maybe wait ? and stick it out with Brushed. Its not like i can't keep up with the FX-Pro on 370 can. Its just Brushed motors are getting harder and rarer to come by. They about same price of a brushless motor now, the Good Quality Wound Brushed that is. But its the ESC that is exp espcially the RS Pro.
the goose fits fine in my mini inferno and my buddies exoteck rc18b. its really not that bulky just the motor is a 380 which is a 400 can motor and your 370 is a 300 can so the gooses motor is bigger.
also it has lipo cut off a bunch of pre set settings and plenty of power. plus the bigger can means less strain and heat

They all fit the RC18B MT T R
But my main concern is to make it fit my M18 R3 B/C is mainly for this car.
My RC18B is my Bash car since i still suck on offroad LOL keep flying out the corner LOL.
What do you mean by the can size of the Goose ? 370 is a 400 and the 280 is a 300 ???

i mean the mongoose motor is a 380 which is the size of a 400 can motor its bigger. the 370 motor is the size of a 300 can motor its smaller. the bigger the motor essentially the more power or less stain on the motor to move the car.

Hummm is there a standard size circumference for a 400 can ??? I dont knwo if it will fit since i am running a Motor mount that drops the motor lower than the chassis itself.
my buddy runs it in the exotek rc18b. it fit fine in his. honestly its really not that much bigger but it is a little bigger
