Looks like a slot car motor in their. If so, to small to make it reliable. Those were first used in BRP cars years ago and quickly replaced due to short life.
Actually I'm curious as to what the introduction of this Serpent will do for the 1/28 scale. It's not actually 1/28, so it's too big to fit in the very structured Stock class against Mini-Z's, and it runs on LiPo, foam tires, and a 180-sized motor, which rules it out of all but the most unrestricted Open classes for Mini-Z. Perhaps this car will finally signal a shift for 1/28 to go to LiPo, but if it doesn't (and it's very likely it doesn't because everyone loves AAA's, lol...) then I'm afraid the baby Serpent won't count as Mini-Z competition.
Of course it could be like the Scalpel and have new classes dedicated to it started up. There are already two tracks with a possible MRCG class coming soon, and surely the S240 will sell in greater volumes than my car, so it's quite possible that we'll be seeing S240 classes at the local Mini-Z tracks in about half a year.

The Mini-Z MR-01, MR-15, MR-02, MA010 AWD, Overland and Monster are ~ 1/28 scale that uses 130 size motors. The F1 is a little bigger than 1/28 scale, but still uses 130 motors. I doubt if we can run the Serpent with the Mini-Z and say it's a level playing field. With the larger size and most likely higher weight and shape of the body, you can just shovel the Zs outta the way.
Robitronics should shrink the Scalpel or Serpent should grow the S240.
@Color0
You know Kyosho will come out with a lipo Mini-Z.........Dnano is the prelude
I'm pretty sure I'll be picking one up when they come out. I heard they will be up for sale pretty soon, just around the corner. So stick around and see .
