Default Servo for Mini Slider/Mini Late Model

Hey folks,

I'm wondering if any of you have upgraded your servos in your Losi Mini's. Are there any metal gear servos that will fit in these cars? My Son-In-Law chews up the gears like they were made of butter. I'm looking for something that won't require much modification to work.

Thanks,
Kris

Here's a great drop in MG servo for that car, one of the best upgrades you'll make.

I notice that it only has a single mounting hole in the center of each mounting tab rather than the 2 holes on each tab like the stock servo:

What kind of modification is necessary to mount that servo in place of the stock one?

I'm pretty sure the servo saver listed in the above post has the hardware need to mount either 1 hole or 2

Hitec HS-55 is alot better than the stock one $14. Not metal geared though. I've never striped the gears in mine.

Make sure you get a servo saver for a Slider not a mini-t, they are not the same and won't work.

Really? I thought that all of the mechanicals from the Mini-T were identical. My Son-In-Law has already had to replace several of the front-end pieces in his Slider that were marked for the Mini-T. Those pieces fit perfectly.

When you use the install kit it comes with correct arm for a drop in fit it's the only way do go. If you want a digital servo then use the DS281MG with the same install kit

Where'd you get that information?

The stock servos are kind of puny.

Check out the HiTec line of micro servos, and more specifically the HS-65MG. It's metal geared, and better specs than the stock servo, but will require a little bit of minor modding to make fit - no biggie really.
http://www.hitecrcd.com/servos/list?category=46

But it will require a different servo saver and you really have two options,
the Losi one made for the Mini-T (kinda crappy in my opinion)
Part # LOSB1226 = http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...rodId=LOSB1226
or the Associated one made for the RC18 series (needs a little trimming with a hobby knife to fit, but way better IMO)
Part # 21049 = http://67.199.85.166/main/searchboxresults.php

The LOSB1226 only fits the HS55 not the HS65

HS-65MG is the best servo you can buy for a mini IMO.

what servo saver works with the hs 65mg? i ran my slider tonight with the hs56 in it with the ever not so wonderful 18r servo saver and it cost me the race by 1.01 of a second because of its inconsitsancy.

as for the hs55, i broke the spline gear off by hitting a kid that jumped on the track. i liked the servo before that.

The only other one that will fit on the hs65 is the one by X-Ray, but I don't know if you fit it in the Minis.
