Default I need to know the Fastest 370 Stock Motor for RC18T...Help!

If this is in another post, then you can copy it here. I have a rc18t with a venom fireball 370 stock motor in it. Stock spur with stock pinion. I may need to do some more research, but I don't even know what size the pinion is or spur. What stock motor is faster than the fireball motor I have? How high can I go up on pinion before smoking the motor? I will go to a mamba 5400 brushless down the road, but money is tight. Man I love brushless though. Thanks!

Look at the spur, it's marked, and count the teeth on the pinion is the easy way most people figure that out.

Just gearing to the moon, or arbitrairly picking a gearing, is how you burn up a motor. There is no pat answer on what gearing to use, because every track is different and a car should be geared to the track YOU are running.

I understand all of that about the sizes of the tracks. I found out it has a 55t spur and a 14t pinion with a 2.5.1 IGR. I would be racing on a small indoor track which is perfect the way it is now, but i want to shoot for outdoor racing which is a med to large track w/ some long straightaways for top end. I know they have 15,17,18,19t pinions with 56,57,59,60t spur gears. I was just wondering if anyone here has a rc18t that has tried all the gears with a stock motor to see which combo is the best for short/long tracks. A short track I would gear down to a 12 or 13t pinion. For a long track I would try a 18t pinion sticking with the 55t spur gear. Possible changing the spur gear to a metal one. I just need some opinions or experiences from anyone here. I'm all over 1/10 scalr cars and tracks and how to gear them, but 1/18 is a new ballpark for me and I know some of you people here are pro's.

If you're that experienced you should know there is no pat answer and you should easily be able to figure out what works yourself.

Also there's no need for metal spurs, I could only imagine the noise it'd make...Anyway, as long as you know how to set your gear mesh the nylon spurs will last just as long if not longer than the aluminum.

I was told almost the same thing yesterday. Thks. Back to the original question, which 370 stock motor is the quickest out there?

There really is no pat answer to that, primarily because stock motors being stock motors they're all "supposed" to be about the same and most are.

I'd like to beg a diffr. I have a venom fireball 370that is qucker and a tad bit faster than the ae stock 370 motor. I've noticed that, but I think I know where all of this is going and thats the gearing which we all can agree on.

AE 370 is a box stock motor.
Your venom is a hotstock motor.
Big difference between what comes in most RTRs and what can be found elsewhere.
But there's not a big market for stock motors for mini's, so the choices are few and far between - especially with BL being all the rage.

the fastest stock 370 will be one that has been blueprinted by a motorman....
there used to be a few companies that did this to micro motors.
As far as I know only Team Scream Racing is still doing this.
You can do it yourself but you need to "know" the tricks...
polishing, cleaning and tweaking.....

A guy at our club ran his 370 motor up to 190 degrees C before it stopped working. Temperature isn't as much of an issue with brushed motors

ive ran my stock ae motor up to 240 degrees in my 6 min mains without it failing. the stock motors are fast and cheep!!! the best gearing imo for a small to medium size track is 60 spur with a 10 or 11 pinion..but thats my opinion. also go buy yourself com drops for the stock motor and put some in before every other race especially in the front of the motor. there is a thrust bushing in the front that can burn up quite easily. 7 cells is the way to go if you want more. you can still use all the stock stuff and its a lot quicker....i beat the brushless guys with that setup....... good luck

Don't underestimate the speed of a stock motor. I have one in a R18 Exotek chassis with a Micro GT speed control and 2 cell LiPo and its really quick on a 36x80 carpet track. It is as fast (lap times) as one of my stock chassis RC18T that has a Mamba Micro Pro/5400 combo (chassis just flexes too much). That being said, I have a Team Scream 16T Team Scream Racing motor on the way to see what this chassis will really do.

The stock Sportwerks Recoil E-370 is much faster than the stock Associated Super 370. It doesnt last very long, but it screams.
While brushed motors do typically run hotter than brushless, temperature is more harmful to a brushed motor. Either motor running to hot can de-magnetize it, but with brushed the brushes will also start to cook at higher temps and then performance will suffer.
