Just eyeballing the 2 trans dogbones, it looks like you could gain about 20mm by moving the front diff forward using a 2nd long trans dogbone.

You would have to correct steering geometry as well, but I assume you would want to mount a full sized servo somehow.....

Right, good suggestion. I guess when I posted, I had the differences between solid axle and IFS going through my head and should have posted it that way, but what I meant was, you could potentially modify the arms to swing as far as you want, and use incredibly long shocks, but at some point the whole dogbones/axles CVs and even steering links, thing is going to become the limiting factor.

You can keep the shocks, and just find a point on the arm closer to the inside toward the chassis to connect it to....

I guess you gave up as the Raminator is in the for sale section?

The Mini Rock crawlers are fun....

I was hoping this was going to become a sick low budget build....

I really enjoy this side of the hobby. Being creative and thinking outside of the box (stock chassis)

Exclamation

i put it on for sale to see if there was even any interest, i am still thinking about how to make this a crawler, without expensive changes, its not worth spending another 80 bucks on when i can sell it and get the crawler. i am trying to make sketches of how to move things on the truck, while still keeping as many stock parts as possible.

another reason for putting it in for sale is to see what it is worth, since it is used... (2 times) it isn't worth as much as new. how much it is worth used determines the budget.

I think wheelbase is more important than the total length....need to bump that Raminator out....

Raminator:
Width:8.2 in (209mm)
Wheelbase:7.2 in (185mm)

MRC:
Width:7 in (177.8mm)
Wheelbase:8.5 in (215.9mm)

For your amusement:

Borrowed my MRC tires, and hex adapters.....the Raminator uses smaller axles as well but not noticeable when the nut is snugged against the rim. But that is about max stock suspension with the other 3 tires on the ground still.

i was thinking about going somewhat like the MRC chassis, give the drive dogbones articulation a try, give a lot more ground clearance. pull the motor and electronics up.

Don't really think so. I think it's easier just to pick up a MRC, and sell the radio system for 80-90$, and have a nice 1.9 roller crawler.
