That looks like a promising chassis. Those upper arms actually look like they could be a bit stiffer than simply a turnbuckle/tie-rod.
But, does the bottom A-arm pivot on a pin, or on ball-ends?? I don't know if I would like that part...
It looks pretty symmetrical from front to back, even the same hub knuckles, front and back, huh?

Did it come with the sway bar?
The bottom arm pivots on balls, just like all the rest of the suspension. The standard version of the M18T has composite plastic balls and the pro has nickel coated steel balls.

What I am thinking is, if you are just doing carpet racing (no dirt) the plastic should hold up ok. If they do wear, I figure I will just put in the nickel balls.

It is quite symmetrical and yes it cames with sway bars for front and back. But the reading I did said to go with just the front sway bar for carpet racing, so that is what I went with.

Everyone at the track I am going to start racing at is running RC18Ts or Bs, I am hoping that I can spank em.

I know what you mean! The detail and photos there really gets you up close to the platform! The "Pro" looks like a solid machine, I like it!
...although a few points on there I don't care for too much, and some places where they chose to use their own proprietary design, so you can't have many alternatives... But really, looks like a sweet ride.

He has a few very good tips for current users too!

I've got too many other projects going on right now though, no money to sink into one of these.

I miss my m18t at times.....
I ran a United RC Krystal motor(graupner speed 300) in mine with the plastic cvds....
im not a finesse driver and i used to spend $10-$20 everytime I raced...
the upper arms and steering knuckles and the cvds held up....being the parts are directional I was only breaking the drivers side parts....I got mad at having to buy parts I didnt need...
So I sold it
It was a great driving truck.....

I just wanted to update this thread since I completed my first ever carpet race today. I was the only Xray M18T on the track, everyone else was running RC18's. I won all 3 heats by 4 laps and won the A Main by 4 laps. Nothing made me happier than seeing all these dedicated Associated guys coming over to check out what I was driving. Made them even more confused when I told them it was my first competitive race.

To sum it up, it was an experience that I will not forget. And the M18T is an awesome truck!!! From my experience... a much better truck than the RC18T on a flat carpet track.

Thank you! In case anyone is trying to set up their M18T for the carpet and would like somewhere to start. Here is what I am running

Front:
Associated Gold Front Springs with Associated spring retainers
3mm internal limiters
70wt oil
Sway bar
Arms level
Xray 42/47 degreefoam tire

Rear:
Xray Black Springs (no preload)
3mm internal limiters
45wt oil
no sway bar
arms level
Xray 37 degree foam tire

Castle Mamba Micro Pro with the 5400kV motor (geared 14/54)
Losi DSM reciever bound to my M11 Spektrum Module
Hitec 82-MG servo
Zippy 1750mAh 2s lipo packs

I am running the Xray aluminum driveshafts all around and I did upgrade the steering blocks to the aluminum Yeah Racing parts (which fit perfectly).

Everything else is stock.

Wow! I'm really envious now. I could have been one of those RC18 drivers
had you been racing on our track.
Thanks also for sharing you set-up info as well.

The one thing I can say about the RC18... they take a beating and keep on running!!! They are just flat out tough!

No problem about the set-up info, I basically used Zach Barrys setup from the nats on my truck. Works great!!

I believe there was an rc18r that was actually driving in another class and he wasn't laying down the lap times that I was. But that is all I have to go off of. Actually the only vehicle that was there that layed down a better lap time was a 1/12 pan car.

Try this for on-road
Xray purple fronts w/ glued sidewalls
Xray white rears both trued to 44 mm
90 w oil front w/ 5 mm of limiters on shafts
40w oil rear w/ front shafts + 1 mm limiters
