i would go with robitronic. its more reliable and has great support. plus it cost a lot less than the ones out there. check out speedtech: http://www.speedtechrc.com/store/ebp...id=675&id=7617 . i got one of these systems for my track in the back and it works great. it looks like the electronics are from europe.
id go with the one ruf suggested or get a core system.. the problem with the others stated like the robitronic is that the only way it would count the cars lap on a mini-z would be if the transponder is mounted on the outside of the body.. since mini-z bodys are hard plastic..
The Mini-Z windows are translucent and pass the infrared through just fine. All three will get the job done. I-lap and Robitronic have unique long transponder numbers to allow for true personals, the Giro only has 1-23 if I recall correctly.
The real questions to ask are:
How easy is the software that manages the racing and what are your choices if you don't like or can't get the included one to work?
How readily available is the system and add-ons like extra sensors and transponders? How expandable is the system?
Who do you call for support if you have a problem or question?
Just so there is no confusion, I work for I-Lap.

i bought the robitronic lap counter from speedtech and everything worked out smoothly. They sell extra transponders and receivers as well. The receivers are really tiny and can be mounted on the windshield or under any clear area of the body. Their US distributor, SK Motion has great support. I have other robitronic products and they were a great help to me. They have pretty much all the robitronic parts in stock. thumbs up.
You are the first person I know who has ever posted anything about using a Robitronic lap timing system.
Can you tell us what kind of track you race on, and where it's at, what kind of racing you do and with what vehicles? Thanks.
Have any photos?
I'm in the US and when I read all the info at the SK website it's odd like it's translated to English. I wonder what language the instructions were orginally in?
There aren't many people I know of in North America racing with it.
Anymore info on the Robitronic system would be great. We are wanting to use it on an indoor, carpet, high banked, oval on Losi Late Models, Sliders, 18T's, etc.
Does it count through clear lexan windows accurately?
We have a number of oval users running sub 2 second laps, our decoder's minimum lap is under 1 second.
The transponder normally goes under the window, but on RTR bodies for the Sliders, etc, it works through the painted shell anyway.
Support is available by phone from 9 AM to 11PM Central Time, 7 days a week.

Which one of these systems would work best for the Mini Z F1 cars?
Is there a transponder or system that will fit inside the F1 bodies without major modifications? The Giro Z requires too much cutting and dremeling of the body for me. Is there something that fits without having to do that?
