Default 2008 Xmass Speculation Release thread.

That time again. Since 1/18th is gone *sniff* moved here. The purpose of this thread is give our opinions, ideas, (or inside info) on what we think will be released in the 1/18th scale realm this year for Xmass.

I usually start out with listing each of the major companies and giving my personal opinions. However, time constraints, I will cut that out for the most part.

Traxxas: Will we see the release of something in our scale finally?

Losi: Will they release a new version of the Mini-T in a 4wd variety?

Duratrax: Will they release the Anderson Sedan?

Associated: After Tony left, I don't know who is left there representing our scale. Maybe another redo of the current rc18t with a more Slash like stance and body? Maybe the RC18T2 finally?

Xray: ?

HPi: Wouldn't it be nice if they would come out with a MRS42?

MRC/Academy: ?

Kyosho: The Mini-Inferno has been discontinued I thought. Does this mean they are pulling out, or have they finally decided to go with a lighter and less over engineered 1/18th? A Lazer mini would be incredible!

Of course, the current world wide economy Im sure is making many manufacturers rethink things. I do beliee though if they would push our scale more especially at this time, it would help our hobby and again this size survive. We offer something that is hard to beat by the largers. Good price, durability, and speed. (Plus easier to ship parts/kits/rtrs).

Whom else?

Well, we have our first submission. Losi has come out with a Mini-T Desert Truck with an extended wheelbase. So I guess there goes the 4wd truggy or buggy idea I was hoping for.

Anyone else perchance want to forecast?

Seems to be, with the release of the cliffclimber and the as of yet un-released losi mini crawler, that rock piles are the hot ticket nowadays. I suppose it goes back to bashing basics.....a pile of rubble is much easier to come by then a well groomed track.
Some competition for the M18 would be cool...ie....MRS4-2

As far as factory drivers for AE, there's still Josh Anderson and Brad Geck, but I'm not sure how much they have a hand in R&D.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see a production models of Zack Barry's M18b out there at some point.

BRP... I like my car. It seems very refined besides the rear dampening system. Maybe this year they will refine it a little more??

1. I doubt Traxxas will release anything 1/18th scale in the near future.

2. With the huge success of the Mini-T and all the oval based vehicles spawned off of its platform, I would bet that somewhere down the line Associated jumps in and creates a circle track racer based on it very popular RC18 series.

3. With more companies producing mutiple brushless options for the mini's, I would assume that other car companies will produce a mini in the future. who knows? Time will tell I guess.

My prediction is that AE will build an oval racer based on its RC18 platform.

Thats my $.02

Default LRP Buggy Nitro

LRP has released a nitro version of the Shark Buggy. They already had the nitro version of the truck. The main thing to note is that it already includes the pillow-ball conversion front end stock.

This is more what I'd like to see than what I actually expect, but

Team Losi micro-tc. I envision a similar mod to what AE did from the rc18t to the rc18r. These tires give me hope either as to foreshadowing an actual release or just making a custom version easier:

Would really stick it to kyosho's stuck up pricing on the mini-z :P

It's actually only 7mm wider and 10mm longer in wheelbase then the M18.
