9am??? Usually between 8:30 & 9PM. Hope you make it a weekly thing Kim. Good seeing the O.G. "Rumble at the Bowl" members coming back out!
Hey
I got my MT on Lipo power and am amazed at the difference in speed! Its got to be twice as fast as the Nimh that I had, maybe it was old.
Anyway I am getting almost 20 mph out of the 2s 2200 packs with 45 minute+ run times!
BUT I am throwing a rear dog bone, right rear twice. Found it the first time by luck. Second not so lucky. I am curious though how this is happening and how to prevent it. Is this normal or is there something wrong?
Thanks
Tony
Make sure the spring is still in the outdrive. Other than that you should not lose them unless you pop a link off or they are very worn. If you are popping links frequently then you may need to adjust your driving so you stop hitting things. If you are not popping links then check the pins on the dogbones for wear, and check the outdrives for wear. Its usually the first accident you lose the spring and it never works correctly after that.
I change my 60t to 55t spur yours might come with it already, took the bottom cover out and works for me I still get an occasional sand in there but not as much when the cover was installed weird but true. One other the benefit of having the bottom cover remove is your car will less likely to bottom out and will give you car a consistent handling.
Yes true. I always tell people to drill a hole in the bottom gear cover at least. It protects the gear somewhat if the gear sticks below the chassis but the hole lets the debris drain out. If you dont drill a hole the bottom gear cover acts like a bucket that fills up with sand and debris. Not good.

Hmmm I had been enjoying it with its new found oomph...And its relatively low cost so far.
Far as the springs go, I lost a front one a while back before I went to the RPM bumper (skid plate was trash).
Picked up a 12 pack of 1" x .156 od springs at Mcmaster for $5....Been cutting them as I need them. VERY cheap alternative!
Links, those are the ones that pop onto the brass pins..? Havent popped one yet.
Maybe the dogbone pin was worn out. $4 at the LHS tomorrow!

More horse power almost always equates to more wallet power $$$ These toy cars are no different then real cars, lol.
Not yet. I'm gonna place an order tonight or tomorrow. I found a few more things I want to upgrade. I told myself I was gonna keep this damn thing stock, but we all know now long that lasts...

Lost another today, luckily it was found! Its only the right rear but nothing pops out at me, other than I mounted the shock to the middle hole on top, and to the inner most hole on the control arm. I put it back to the outermost hole on the control arm.
I saw something somewhere about brass ferrules....Is it a solution to this kind of problem?
ONE more item. The car blew the smart stop,it stopped working. It flashed and blipped even with a charged battery, so off it goes to Novak.
Even with the car set up stock though, it likes to go off on its own .
I mean it all of a sudden starts driving at like half throttle. Its not apparently a trim issue, although I am kinda unsure what the top two blue knobs do...
Tony
Definitely need the brass sleeves on your outdrives. I assumed you had them because they have been factory installed for a while now. I dont know the size of the ferrules, and I cant find the part number for the stock brass ones. But the Factory Team Blue ones are part # ASC21243.
Newer 18Rs dont have both shock mounting positions on the arm anymore. I assume this is because the inside hole allows the droop to go too low and cause similar problems to yours.
CAnt say much about the Novak. I have one on a stock 18R thats been working fine for awhile now. I guess Novak will let you know if it was faulty or if something in your system caused the failure.
As far as the car taking off I would have to guess its because of the stock radio. This is only a guess as I cant see it myself, but the stock system is prone to interference. The knobs on top are end point adjustments. They will not cause this type of action.

Thanks! I imagine the ferrules are like the normal compression ferrules on compression fittings.........?
Hmm upon Googling, i see they are not. They are just little tubes, I imagine they just press on?
Maybe I solved the dogbone problem moving the shock postion outboard. We'll see.
The Novak had two leads fall of the board, resoldering did not help.
And the takeoff thing, well time will tell. The Tx seems to indicate 'full' for the batteries....BUT the only think I can add is my son broke about a foot off the antenna.....?
Such a pain for what is otherwise a stellar little truck! Darn near 20mph with only the LiPo added!
In fact I may want to get out of the VXL rustler and get a couple more RC18MT's.....Me, the boy and some neighbor kids could all have fun! They dont need a 1/10th monster!
Tony
If you have had problems with your Tx I would have to guess that is where the problem lies. The ESC causing problems like that I have never heard of, but its definitely not out of the realm of possibilities. At this point all you can do is try to re-locate components to see if that helps, or try known good components one at a time until the problem disappears.
