i like this idea.....did u guys run this way on friday? how was the race, o n did my bro show up?

Your bro wasnt there, they ran mod 18rs in the same field with 18r spec at the same time but both were being timed and lap counted in seperate, they did that in slash class also.Jona won the a main,i was in the b main and won which bumped me to a main,my transponder popped out but i finished near the back of the field, all the fast guys were there and all cars were pretty equal performance wise,i dont think anybody including myself were running foams,These guys werent making no mistakes and very consistant, the racing was close and fun.I was using the 3racing tires and shocks,i swithed out the ae blue springs in the a main to the 3racing softer black springs cause my lead weights i use to compensated the much lighter lipo i use popped off so i needed a softer set-up for a lighter car and it worked out great as did the 3racing tires.

we recently upgraded the software at our track an i am really looking forward to using the mixed class feature, i am a fan of the gtp/gtu type of racing and feel it could work good at our track.

I liked it also, that night there was no straight away, the track was technical and most of the spec 18rs were in the lead.

well lets see a good setup? well i would go with the novak brushless system since they are the only company i can find that offers a sensored brushless system for micro class. i wouldn't use foams unless your running indoor groomed carpet, i would use the 3racing tires. get the exotek GT-Z body, and put some 3racing shocks on there. AE gold springs in the front and blue int the back, 20 wt shock oil all around. oh and tighten the front diff. oh and one more very important thing. get an aluminum steering linkage.

The aluminum steering kit is not the drag link..

The drag link is plastic and removes 1 part from the aluminum kit..

It is a must have much more than the aluminum steering kit, if you like tight steering linkage.. Personally I don't notice a difference..

Did the aluminum steering kit work with the draglink?

Do you have the 3racing one?

i don't have any experience running on carpet but im pretty sure what i was saying earlier still applies. gold springs upfront, blue springs in the rear. as far as shock oil you may want to go heavier for carpet maybe 30 all around or something like 30-35 front 20-25 rear. also you will probably want put spacers in your shocks to limit droop.

Default Chasing That Setup

thanks for the input on the carpet setup .i thought maybe their were quiet a few carpet guys out there.this is new to me as i like 1/8 scale buggy.i have had alot of fun chasing the setup for 18r rally car on carpet.i guess i will have to do a lot more testing to get there.thought maybe i could catch a shortcut for some quick handling gains.

My son and I ran on carpet for the first time this past weekend. It was a learning experience. Chased traction all day.

Any insights would be great.

Thanks, Rob.........

Ive never ran anything on carpet and i thought it would always have great traction. The setup sheets on the AE website are all for carpet so im sure any of them would help you...
