Default Hitec HS-55 Economy Sub Micro Servo Rc18T?

Hitec HS-55 Economy Sub Micro Servo Rc18T?

Will it fit directly into the Rc18T truck? If so do i need to buy anything else for it?A different servo saver or will the stock one work.

Dave

gotta hate the "manufacturer-bashers" type of people.

HiTec makes fine servos, I've had nothing but good luck with them.
they make a servo that's a direct fit, the HS-56, for the RC18 lineup.
you can get the 55 to fit, may require a little filling of the servo mount, but my advise would be to go with their HB (kyrptonic geared) or MG (metal geared) models as they are stronger than the Economy model that's only barely better and about the same price as the stock servo that came in it.

actually its the hs-65 that is the direct fit (less the servo saver insert). ive had good luck with these servos so far. its the hs-81 that you want to avoid @ all costs

Interesting. I had actually eyeballed the 65MG a while back. But I held off for buying replacement gears instead. Well, I won't buy replacement gears twice.

So it seems this is the one I'm gonna get. But just I get confused easily.... some one humor me and tell me -- is the stock AE servo saver going to fit on here? If not, what will?

associated sells a "hitec servo saver" that is a direct fit for the 65HB. for the mg, you will have to find a screw that works that is longer than stock. i would reccomend the HB over the MG, i have yet to strip a gear, and its a cheaper servo

back in 2004 when the RC18T was first released the Hitec HS56 was marketed as the direct drop in....It didnt....then they started advertising using the HS56 or the HS65. The servo saver kit AE 21049 works with both servos.

I never tried a Hitec HS55 in a RC18T the power is too low...the HS65 has about double the strength....It may work in the RC18T but it will break not from quality but from lack of strength....

I have used the HS81mg with great results. Mike which TX are you using?
Zak Barry used the HS81s w his JR TX and had no issues...He switched TXs(Airtronics M11) and he started having issues. Zak switched from the HS81s to Multiplex digi polos(red case) and hasnt looked back...
I use JR Hitec and KO TXs and never had any issues w Hitec servos.....

Karbonite gears huh. I've never used anything made of that.
Tougher than metal gears eh?

they are not tougher than metal unfortunately but they are tougher than nylon or delrin....
Karbonite is a "hard" plastic that Hitec has been using for a few years now....
Good stuff...

Maybe I'll go with my gut then. That's usually the best thing to do. I'll get the MG. Thanks for the insight on Karbonite. I had never heard of it. I think there's a little mom-n-pop hardware store by my son's school -- I'll have to stop there and see if I can find a longer screw for it.

i use futaba w/ spektrum. its not me. its the servos. i know people with all diffrent kinds of radios who used those servos with problems. the 81's just suck. a few of them center, but not many. never seen issues with other servos (i currently use a 65 and 85 in my M18s) but for whatever reason those servos dont center to save their lives.

watts - the problem you will find is that its a 2.3mm screw. real oddball size. practically impossible to find hardware for. you can tap the hole out to 2.5, then you will find stuff. imo its not worth it for the mg when the hb will work just as fine, be lighter, and use the screw that comes with the servo saver kit. trust me, ive put some hits on that thing, and it still works just fine
