I unfortunately won't be making this race this year due to a family dinner for Christmas, but I do need to bring up a point after reading some of these posts.

I race with Gee weekly with micros. We are usually first and second every week, no matter what track we go to in this area. We both run mod and stock micros. My fast lap in mod is usually about 1 second faster than my fast lap in stock, and the same goes for Gee. I hope the last post was supposed to read "a few tenths per lap", otherwise stock will be right on pace with mod. In all honesty, I don't understand where 6-cell is better for everyone than 5, I look forward to your response with the reasoning behind that. 5 cell is a little cheaper for the racer, and balances the cars out better, plus as Gee mentioned, it would help keep these 4200 BL motors closer to 300 Brushed motor speeds.

I'm looking forward to attending one of your Nationals soon, hopefully next year. I just hope you guys are able to maintain "Stock" at what can easily be deemed a "Stock" speed, or fairly easy for the novice/beginners to handle.

Hey Robbie, you are right.. I had a typo!
The 6-cell idea came from a few manufacturers, I threw the idea to a bunch of people who race and most like the idea. I was willing to change it before the magazine ad was published and told people to email me what they wanted. You saw the results.

If there is ever anything I can do for you to get you to attend let me know. I do fully inderstand that family comes first though! My 2-year old daughter comes way before toy cars!

Well, I suppose you did what you could. I wish you guys good luck with this combo, and I look forward to hearing how things go. As the main organizer of the MRL series, I tend to keep an eye on what you guys do at the Nats.

This is a national and you 'consult' 40 people? you had 115 cars/trucks last yr. i like the ease of bl just as much as the next guy. but tracks follow what big events or the sanctioning body choose. and that combo doesnt match up to folks who'd run stock.

8$ graupner 300s or the robos we use down here are than acceptable for stock. who says we want a free motor. heck that reedy motor is crap anyway. i blew up outta the lead at a charity race couple wks later with gee's handout. (sorry mike, it was the motor not u ...castle couldnt replace my speedo in time b/c they were busy changin the decal). we all know 5cell is the standard for 1/18 touring, i cant speak for the offroad guys just what i run. only exception to that was the 2/3AA 700/750 KANs we run on the lil track w/the 180s. run the bl in stock, but most folks have 5cell setups and the cars balance better, far better. not to mention room for rans, big Rx, xponders, sinks etc.

sorry, just think you guys could do better for the scale at large (no pun), regardless of who the sponsor is, sadly they'll never make somethin slower.

have a great event, the old line state will show well there i'm sure.

R

PS-I have no issue with being resident 3rd place (1st in class) behind Robbie and HeeBeeGeeBee every sat nite. Fairly good at it.

Didn't you say in your last message over and out? And what makes you think I consulted only 40 people? That is how many people voted when I posed the question on the board, after I posted the rule. I asked way more than that.

Look at the roar off road nats in 2004 or 2005. Roar made an open tire rule. So, anyone could use any tire. The people got together and said, NO, lets limit it to 2(one proline, one losi) tires and EVERYONE went along. IF you guys want to do that, go for it. No problem. The rule is posted 6-cell MAX. You can use less. If the car is balanced better you should have a better handling car and should be competative with 5-cells, right?

I, personally, would prefer brushed motors for stock classes, but a free motor is a free motor and the brushless feel seems to work better for me without jumps anyhow.
Aside from that, I'm sure the track will be highly technical and challenging (as the Madness large events always are) to a point where most will be dialing down their throttles anyway. My point is that though everyone will likely have more motor than needed, EVERYONE will be in the same dingy.
