OK, Im a little confused. The flyer says Castle brushless motors will be the handout motor for the stock classes. Brushless has never been allowed in the stock classes in the past. Has this changed or will the Castle motors be giveaway motors and there will be brushed handout motors as well?

Castle 4200kv motors were used as stock/handout motors in the stock classes for onroad nats.
The same will be used for the stock classes for offroad nats. No more brushed handouts thanx to Joe Ford and the rest of the castle gang. If you do not have a BL ESC to run in such a class, the boys at Madness will propbably be running some sort of special on mini sidewinders or renting them out for the weekend or something.
WOW, so much for a true "stock" class. I was going to buy a Mini-desert truck to run in 2wd stock but not if I have to switch over to brushless. Maybe Ill just run all my stock vehicles in open just to avoid making the switch. This is real disappointing...

Castle will be selling sidewinder esc s for $40 at the event. They even will program it it for you....
I ran at the onroad nats and the 4200kv motor worked awesome....
My point is...Stock has always been stock. If you chose to run brushless you ran in the brushless or open classes. Now it seems it is quite the opposite. If I purchased a new vehicle with stock electronics,I could not run it in a stock class I would be forced to run it in the open class or convert it to brushless to run it in stock. Im sorry but I am failing to see the logic in this formula.

Kevin,
The majority of the vehicles in the stock 2wd & 4wd classes last year used after market speedos with LRP and Novak being the majority used.
Since we could no longer get brushed handout motors at no cost to the consumer/racer Castle Creations came in and worked out a KILLER deal for everyone. a FREE 4200kv brushless motor for those who race in stock.
In almost all other electric racing stock classes have already gone brushless as well.
In addition, how many vehicles racing in 2wd & 4wd stock are that, "stock". Almost all have multiple changes from, turnbuckles, tires, tire inserts, steering linkage, different servos, etc...
Now, as previously stated, if you do not have a brushless esc Castle will be selling them for $40.00, a rock bottom price.
I too will be racing a Mini Desert Truck in 2wd Stock. All I had to change was the esc and add my receiver.
Gents...I will be trying to get some lower kv motors made, but it is doubtful they would be ready by the offroad NATS. We used to have 3600kv Mamba CM-20 motors, but they didn't sell so we discontinued them. They'd be perfect now...
