hey everyone so i just bought an Micro Rs4 and it should be arriving in about 2 weeks. I was wondering if you guys could help me out. First off I really want a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. I know HPI doesn't make one, so i was wondering if anyone know if this one will fit http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/384894.asp
also is there anything that you guys would recommend as to being my first mods for the RS4. thanks in advance for any help and i'll post pics once i recieve it.
cool thanks a lot. so am i pretty much out on trying to find a evo body?? im planning to just race it and then i figure i can throw drift tires on it for semi drifting right? thanks again for the reply's can't wait to get started.
Hmm, maybe go with a Carbon Fiber Rear Motor Plate. Penguin R/C makes them. Get a coreless motor, like Team Orion. And the stock pinion gears don't work good, they will fly off, I've had it happen to me. Try alluminum for the weight, but HPI makes steel ones and they are expensive too.
wow... okay so looks like i've got some mods to do. but i think at first im gonna just try to get the hang of it, then mod from there. how do you guys feel about yours? did i make a good purchase
I don't know let me think about it... This was mine a few years back, I sold it to a guy in Austrilia actually a while back.
I thought it was a great car, I never got to test the D-box, it would of been used for the setup as a 5 Cell Coreless Drifter. What your looking at is $900 at or about.
1 Rubber Tires. Rear soft wide, front get almost everythng to try depending on your track conditions.
2 Foam Tires. Rear soft, front, another assortment for tuning
For the drivetrain you are going to need:
1 steel universals for the front.
2 front one way or solid front axle and rear ball diff are also a must.
3 set of tuning springs for the front
4 Chassis, Penguin and Exotec are the only 2 companys still making racing chassis's for the mrs4. I like the exo3 better. I'm only saying that because I have one! JK!! I think the exo3 is the most advanced setup.
5 For motor just get a brushless motor/speed control and a good lipo battery and be done messing around.
I went overboard through the years with mine...The "mandatory items" in my opinion were: Aluminum upper chassis brace, rear ball diff, aluminum steering link, and steel axles. You can get some better handling from the stock chassis, if money is tight, by slotting it next to the rear pod (just make sure it's even on both sides). Also, if you're looking for cheap drift tires, or want to try drifting before committing to buying them, wrap your rubber tires wit electrical tape...just 2 turns in the opposite direction of rotation (so it doesn't peel) should do it.
BTW, here's mine (now a shelf queen):

Ha! I was thinking the same thing. I was going to include that in my post, but got carried away with my list.
The items I mentioned all seemed to make improvements, then it got craz from there...I only started doing everything to it, because hop up parts were getting rare. It seemed the more I did, the worse it got. But, I had fun doing it.

okay guys so i finally recieved my MRS4, but before i even recieved it i had already bought a team orion stock modified motor, it was only $6 on ebay so i figured i would give it a shot. i put the kit together, and then painted the body and rims, prolly should've took more time on the body, but i was excite, so it came out kinda sloppy, but im proud for it being my first car ever painted. i took a servo i had on my traxxas rustler and installed it on the MRS4 and it fits really good. here is my problem though, i need a ESC and a Receiver. Any suggestions??
what do you guys think about this ESC?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tab%3DWatching
thanks for any help or advice its greatly appreciated. here are some pics of my MRS4
and something im gonna try and see if it works...
