Default brushless micro-t

Did a search and didnt find anything else on this topic soo...who else has done a brushless micro-t build? I just did the first test runs of mine with a Losi XCELORIN 10250 Kv motor/esc. Would barely keep the front wheels on the ground even at speed, and it didnt take long to discover you need a real smooth/flat surface to run it. Im just kinda skeptical wether it was worth it to build somthing this fast, yet so small and light. Whats your opinions/experiences?

10250 is kinda overkill IMO but I love brushless so I would just get a slower motor.

some of us just tend to push the limits of the vehicle whether or not it is necessary.

On a large indoor carpet track with jumps built under the carpet rather than cardboard add in jumps like you typically see, we are well and overpowered with the stock motor and the 180mah lipo, and that is in a high traction environment. As is you can barely control the car and often times the sheer size of the jump will flip the truck even with a halfway decent landing.

My advise, having seen the brushless configuration, the atomic motor and stock motors.. stick with the stock to keep the car driveable, and spend the money on a set of oil filled shocks. These in my mind made the biggest difference in the handling of the micro T. I could land a little off on some jumps and the truck would still be forgiving.. and not bounce wildly.

I am currently running the Integy shocks which are not meant to be filled with anything, but I pack them with 30k diff lock fluid from OFNA for 1/8 scale diffs, and work out the extra by compressing the shock. I have found that this works pretty well, and bet you could do this mod with the stock plastic losi shocks. The thick diff fluid (almost grease) is sticky enough that when you drop the truck from 6 inches or so.. it does not bounce back up.

I also run the red integy springs and have cut them slightly to be more adjustable on the threaded shocks.. as they were, the truck would be topped out even with the adjustment at full soft. Drop travel is important in small bumps, and the truck needs a little of this.

Upgrade order IMHO:

remove gear cover, check to make sure truck is free moving, many of these are getting low runtime and bad performance out of the box due to binding, check suspension and loosen the front steering tierods to allow free motion on the suspension. Check the diff and work it in if necessary to free it up, it makes a difference.

1 - Lipo Battery (Biggest difference in speed and runtime)
2 - Oil filled shocks (make it controllable)
3 - Bearing kit
4 - Threaded axels (because E clips suck)

5 - 4 strips of scrap carpet 3'x15', a 15x15 or so space, lots of towels and items to put under the carpet (run on burber underside for better traction). refine jumps to be reasonable and invite 3-5 friends over who have micro t's.

6 - FUN.
