5400kv brushless motor for quick but not over-the-top speeds, 6800kv for crazy speeds, 1500-2000mah packs will work well.

I'm running a Mamba 6800 system.
Its perfect on NiMH cells for racing/playing and is borderline uncontrollable/insanely fast with a 3S Lipo from MaxAmps.
The 3S will fit; with very slight modification to the battery/radio tray. Just have to space it up a bit.

Borderline? LOL. I have a 3s pack from maxamps and saying it's borderline uncontrollable is like saying the rain season in the amazon is slightly damp.
I've had the mini-t flip on me midway through a speedrun because air got under it and push it over.
