Mini-T Hop ups

Mini-T Hop ups
I just picked up a Losi Mini-t and the hop up bug has bitten already. Just wondering if anyone knows somewhere online to pick up some oil shocks, rechargeable battery packs and quicker motor? Also, is a new motor going to require a new ESC and therefore, new receiver? Any other hop ups anyone would recommend?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Here are few places that carry parts for the mini-t:
Stormer Hobbies-they carry a very large selection of parts for the mini-t including some older parts that aren't sold much anymore.
Horizon hobbies- a store that owns team losi so they are a good place to get losi parts.
Tower hobbies does carry some parts for the mini-t but since they are rivals with horizon, they only carry parts made by any company but losi.
Thetoyz.com carries replacement and upgrade parts for the mini-t.
Fullforce rc makes expensive parts, but their strength and quality are unbeatable.
Good brands: Fullforce, racers edge, pro-line, and parma
Not so good brands: integy and 3 racing

Hey Turbine,
Being in Adelaide I thought you might try Modelflight for the shocks and maybe a Graupner speed to use with stock electronics. Will need a big block motor mount or you can mod the stock mount. I happen to have about 5 motor mounts made by FullForce up here in Port Augusta.
Brushless is better though. The Mamba 5400 or 6800 are excellent.
www.rcmart.com pretty good stock of bits.
www.thetoyz.com as mentioned is another good'un.
www.qikazz.com.au has FullForce items and others.
We race up here the week before Whyalla meetings on an indoor foam tile track 18m x 8m roughly. The Mini-T doesnt really need a lot for it to be competative on the track.
Cheers

Alternate front wheels and rear wheel adapters
I race on flat carpet against Associated 18T's and need better handling.
Does anyone have input about using rear hub wheel adapetrs that let you mount 1/10 TC touring car wheels and tires on a Mini T? I'm trying to get a better selection tires than what is currently offered by Losi and BRP.
What about 1/12 rears on the mini T? A bit wide and may make the handling a bit squirrelley.
I'm thinking of having a freind turn down a front axle that will let me mount 1/12 fronts on the front of my mini T? A bit lower stance, lighter weight.
Thanks, L

DrivenPro make delrin TC hub adapters for the Mini-T (front and rear).
Having such a short wheelbase and using large diameter tires may cause unwanted handling characteristics I suspect.
I like the Idea of mounting 12th tires and rims. You could possibly find 12th donuts and mount them on the Mini-T rims by removing the ribs.
Competing against 4wd 18T is always going to be a challenge with the 2wd Mini-T.
Cheers

Take your truck out for a bash session or race. let us know how many integy parts bend.

ive done that many times over the past few years with my savage .21 qnd have never bent an integy part. i dont race it but i jump it on pavement at showcases as well as on dirt jumps and manmade ramps.
I got my savage when it fist came out and after a year replaced all the suspension arms with silver aluminum arms from integy as well as bumpers, shocks, and shock towers from integy.

How old are those integy parts you got? because from what i've read, Integy's quality has taken a real nosedive as of late.

Mini T hub adapters
I bought both the Driven Products (DP) hub adapters and the Integy hub adapters for the RC18T and tried them both on the Mini T.
I found both types of hubs are too thick for the standard Mini T lug nuts to get a good grip on the axle.
With the DP hubs on the front wheel, when the front wheel spins forward the nut tightens and the bearing jams. Spin it backwards and the nut loosens. If I put in spacers the lug nut won't grip the axle. Since these front hubs also carry the bearings so it would be difficult to narrow the DP front hubs to expose more of the axle end.
On the rears the drive pin keeps the wheel from spinning but the nut is not secure on the axle, the captured threads on the nut are not fully engaged. It appears that the rear hub could be shaved to narrow it up enough to be used.
The Integy hub is intended for the RC18T not the Mini T. But I thought they might have fit on the rear of the Mini T. This hub is also too thick for the Mini T lug nut to get a good grip on the axle.
Too bad, the HPI star wheels looked cool on the Mini T.

Mini T Driven Productions' Hub Adpaters
I must have installed the adapters incorrectly. It doesn’t make sense to sandwich the wheel flange between the lug nut and the adapter. I went to Driven Productions’ web site but couldn’t find anything to help, (DrivenPro.net)
I am guessing that the center of the wheel needs to be drilled out large enough to allow the lug nut to seat on the bearing the same way it does on a Mini T’s front wheel. The wheel then needs to be glued on to the adapter. The drill hole needs to big enough to pass the bearing through so it can be removed when the tire is worn out. This implies that when the tire is used up that the tire, wheel and adapter are thrown away. The April 2008 edition of “Xtreme RC Cars” has an article on removing old tires from wheels maybe the same techniques would work to remove the adapters.
I’ll try drilling out an old set of Mini Cooper wheels and see how this all works.
The machining of the adapters is top notch, somebody knows their stuff.
