Questions?? brushless mini lst2 system??????

mini lst2 i am wanting to go brushless and am undecided. I am thinking that the xeleron 7400kv or mamba 25 system might be the way to go! Some one told me that the 8000kv create a lot of heat but the question is what kv is less heat and fastest. I know that they are different worlds but I am wanting a happy medium speed and low heat

I like the mamba 25 because it is very friendly when ya plug it up to the pc. 8000kv is going to have more high end, for high speed, depending on gearing, don't forget gearing is everything! lower kv usually has more torque, the mini lst is a big truck and will need some torque i would recommend a mamba 25 for a esc, and a hyperion motor that provides tons of torque but still some high end for the speed freaks

just don't forget, you will overheat it if it isn't geared right, so make sure to gear your motor and drive train correctly to have a good truck, i personally have a mini lst, with vicious diffs and a mamba 8000 with stock pinion, really isn't that great compared to rc18t with 6800 and stock pinion.

just remember it helps to have torque for bigger rcs.

also dont quote me, this is just my 2cents to get you on the right track. also one more thing to be honest the mini lst drive train isn't really that good, so consider what your doing, it might cost you alot to replace diffs, and other parts. hope this helps

forgot: you can get most good motors escs and parts at b-p-p.com

cool thanks am not looking for super speed i know that the brushless will by nature go faster i was just really looking for long run times and a lil speed it wont be raced just bashing thanks for the info i really like the mamba 25 and aren't the lst2's diffs metal ? i have raced for years so i understand the gearing. so you like the mamba 8000 w stock pinion right?

Yeah it works ok, not much torque, but too much torque for that truck = dead diffs every other run =( if you are serious about going brushless, i would consider a torquey motor like the hyperion 6000, i have that in my mini inferno it works great!

if you do choose a torquey motor dont forget about the diffs, the 8000 lasted in my mini lst for about 3 runs before the rear diff blew. The vicious diffs are working good so far!

as for run time, get a high mah battery 2s or 3s lipo and you should be good, in my mini lst i use a great planes 950mah 11.1 lipo, not very long run times since the battery is only 950 mah, but my brushless rc18t with a 1550 maxamps 3s lipo lasts a half hour!!! on a mamba 25 with 6800 motor. Brush less is up to you, but just dont forget the work you will have to do to keep it running (diffs, drivetrain, ect.)

hope this helps if ya need anything PM me =)

I put in the metal diffs by team losi, they call them "vicious diffs" got them on ebay for 40 something dollars. So far they are well worth it!!! don't forget to update the cvds as well. and put a ball diff in the center, and you should be ready to rock, as long as you don't have the steering off center issue ( dont think ya do, since u have a mini lst2.)

hope this helps out! also, consider getting a quark pro car 33a esc from b-p-p with a hyperion 6000. I will be doing that combo very soon, and i will put up a vid and let you know how it runs!!

Xcelorin motors for 1/18 cars are 280 size,mamba25 motors are 180 size can.
If your are planing to get a mamba certainly the truck wont have gears problems but if you are going to get a 280 motor things will change . . . a lot

Hey Guys

I got a few questions about my mini lst2. Its fully stock except radio.

What size MAH lipo battery can the stock electrics hold?

Also what brushless system can i put in without me worrying about diff problems or any drive train problems?

Thanks
Dean

Sounds like he's refrering to a 6800kv brushles motor like the Mamba. Castle Creations makes the Mamba, Novak's got their Mongoose, there is the Hyperion motors and few others like Hacker, Wraith or AON. Most offer different sized motors that will fit your MLST.

I could probably destroy any diff with any of those motorsbut each person will have their own results. How you drive, the condition of your diffs and what kind of power you put in there will really determine how long the gears last. Shim the diff properly, drive nicely and don't put the biggest or torquiest motor/battery combo in there and they will last longer. The Losi viscious diff's do seem to get decent reveiws.

Your speed control will generally determine how much battery voltage you can put in there. Of course physicaly size does as well. For instance, the Novak Mongoose, Losi Excelron and Quark 33 are rated up to 3 cell's or 11.1 volts. You'll run out of room in that MLST before you run out of mah

There are a number of packs that will fit in there. I've run TP 2000 or 1320 packs in mine before. The 2 cell fits fine, but the 3 cell will require a little "nudging" or extension of the battery post

Just want an oppinion people.

Im planning on going brushless but also planning on just modding the esc to a nice brushed/brushles one and running twin brushed engines of some sort with a 2s or 3s lipo battery more then likely MaxAmps.

What do you think? and what equipment do i need, esc and motor?
