I just have to say...
Big Props and a HUGE THANKS to ALL the MRL racers that attended the Micro On-Road Nats and represented the MRL so well.
The MRL is now the proud home to 3 National Championships (2 in Stock and 1 in Mod)!
More importantly, the MRL showed true dominance with 6, yes SIX MRL racers making the A-Main in Stock 1/18 Sedan and furthermore by Sweeping the Podium! It was an all MRL podium in stock with Scooby Horton, Darren Howard and myself taking those positions. Mike Gee, James Denmark and Wesley Dennis also had A-Main performances on behalf of the MRL, and all 3 ran incredible all weekend long.
In Mod 1/18 Sedan, the MRL provided 4 cars for the A-Main and almost swept the Podium again with Mike Gee and myself taking the top two spots. Wes Dennis and James Denmark again represented the MRL well with consistently solid finishes.
The MRL also had several cars in other A-Mains and even TQ'ed 1/14 Open with Mike Gee taking TQ honors in Rd. 3 from Scooby Horton who held it all through the first 2 rounds. It was an MRL front row at the tone, but bad luck for both drivers kept them from claiming the top spot, although they did still perform well. Scooby took the 2nd Podium spot and Mike came home in 3rd. Wes Dennis and Tory Skyers brought home a couple more A-Main finishes for the MRL in this class as well.
Wes Dennis and James Denmark were the busiest MRL drivers at the track as they also both made the Pan Car Stock and Mod A-Mains, making 4 A-mains for both drivers, bringing home some SERIOUS hardware!
The only classes that the MRL didn't provide A-Main runs for were the 1/18 rally and truck classes, but we didn't have any drivers in those classes from the MRL.
CONGRATS to all those MRL racers who put on a great show and represented well. The micro racing world now knows where some of the hottest competition is in micro racing and I'm looking forward to more great racing with you all this weekend at Frederick and in a month at Mushroombowl. Thanks to all your hard work, we should see a very successful event at Mimi's for the Grand Finale in March!
