most of the "big scene" micreo drivers run offroad too

oh and robbie, have you tried contacting AE about possibly the 370 motor (assuming you were going for the venom fireball which is 370) they do all the handouts for the micro nats so there may be something there

How does the 28th sound? I realized it is also the same date as a big race at Mimi's that I really want to attend. Of course, the 14th doesn't really work for me either...heh Don't wanna get in trouble for being out racing on that day

I'll edit my post from earlier to reflect this change.

I'd like to see around a 280-300 size motor. Whatever is common for stock sedan racing. I'd really like to see 6c 2/3aa and 180's take off, but I don't know how well they'd handle big tracks like Mimi's, etc

We ran 5 cell 2/3a associated 370 at mimi's and it was allot of fun. I didn't break anything (a frikin first for me at the time!!) and it was entertaining to watch.

I ran the 180's at mushroom bowl and they are o.k. for stock and lower skilled racers but for the MRL i think we should take it up a notch. The 370's are tough and can be geared for big and small tracks.

What kind of quantity are we talking about? 100? 200?

roberto, the 180s wont tolerate anythin but what we run @ the haus. and they still die here in there. i'd say lets go for the asc 370, i dont even see how they can call it a 370, b/c its smaller like a 280. cheap, will fit, and on 5cell it'll give us what were lookin for. b/c asc doesnt look like their rereleasin the 280 like was rumored, and it might be like pulling teeth to find out the part # from johnson and gettin a box thru a distributor which is what i was lookin at if i could lock down johnson's part #.

the 370 is a tad bigger than the 280, but 300-370's have the same mounting holes and are the same size cans as 300's.

I think the AE 370 would be our best choice. When I started mod in the Haus, I used an AE 370 motor and 6 cells and it was fast but I think 5 cells would slow it down a bit. The losi motors were ok last year but I think the AE motors will have more acceleration in the corners and a bit more top speed down the back-stretch.

Put a call in with AE today. We'll see where we end up.

I'm figuring about 60 motors or so, but I'm not really sure. I would like to test them out in GB a few times first, so I may do a small order initially then order more if we like what we see. Would be best if we could test at some of the larger tracks.

Either way, I still have a lot of things to work out with AE first. Still keeping Johnson in mind as well.

We (all the 'bowl racers) ran the ae motor on 5 cells for the better part of last season, ran it at mimi's on 5 cells, actually have video of us running them at mimi's (search for YmeBP on youtube). I think it's the perfect choice because even if you have a small track it has the durability to handle it. They last a good bit (i've run one for 6 race weekends before having to change it) if you get a bad one you know it immediately. Sometimes the bushes get hung, but even than a quick poke through the hole in the can (wow ... say THAT in public ) gets them all back in order.

I still have a couple of them (2 or 3) in my parts box i can send down to you if you don't want to part w/ any cash until you test.
