1:18 pan cars are gaining interest over here in Sweden. We've only seen Robitronic Scalpels so far but we would like to know more about other alternatives as well.
Pictures and tips for set ups is extremely welcome.

Smyka, congrats on your win, yes the car looked very dialed and was fast but so was my scalpel (4 cell chassis). For some unknown reason I was haveing all kinds of glitching issues at the start of the main (couldn't finish). Just like I told u at Olive Garden, I would have loved to see the bud vs. scalpel battle between 1st-4th, not saying that no one else could compete, I just know what 1st through 4th was driving. The scalpel is right there .

The chassis that those guys ran at the nationals has been around for awhile. It had the motor behind the axle so there was more room on the chassis for your radio equipment and 6 cells. The old car was not bad. Bud made the change to the new V2M which is the mid motor car, because of the speeds we were getting to, it just handled better. Now with just 4 cells and smaller radio gear it just made sense.
The best thing about the BRP cars is that they are simple, anyone can set it up and be fast from the start. Plus it is soooo hard to break anything on them. So you have more track time and not more pit time.

The BRP has been on the scene for over 10 years, developed by a world champion (Bud Bartos) for the purpose of racing. Today the SC18-V2M is the latest chassis and includes years of refinements and racer input. It may not be the prettiest, but it is the FASTEST!
The racer kit has all the go fast goodies, and is under $100 ($80 Christmas Special) unassembled and $150 assembled by Bud. You do not need to purchase any other hop-up, aftermarket part, or create your own part to run well. The car is simple to work on, only has a few adjustments, and rarely breaks. I have had mine for over 5 years, and have only broke ONE part!
Set-up tips depends on the track you are running on. You can check out Hobby Talk and ask Bud a set-up question, or read the Tips thread!

Does the racer kit come with the big block motor plates ?
Does it include the ball diff? Does it include bearings for the front wheels?
Im very familar with the BRP cars i own a few of them myself. The car is simple and it is fast but the car is not refined like the scalpel or the x ray.
What was proven at the mini indoor nats was that the car is FAST.....

The SC-18V2M Racer Kit -
Big Block motor plates - Yes
Ball Diff - Yes
Bearings - Yes
I feel the new SC-18V2M is refined over it's older predecessors, as it handles better than the SC-18/SC-18V2 and was laps faster than the other models.

DLSII,
6 cell brushless!! you must be on a BIG track! At the Nats I used 4 cell with a tekin 5.4KV and it was too fast..lol.. What kingpins are those with the threads at the top? I used the "long" BRP ones with the dampner springs instead of the orange progressive to gain stearing.

I wish I had a track to run on! The kingpins are an old set of Ti. camber rods. You're probably right the motor is a 6.8- it will be to much. What's the more sane one a 4.2? Or drop down to 4 cell- I just got the brushless put in, that was fun doing all that grinding on the motor plates. How did you do at the Nats? Don
The 6.8 on 4 cell was too much. I had a 5.4 on 4 cell. I did well at the nats, 2nd in stock and TQ'ed and won mod. Speed was not important, cornering was.
