Default I-Waver cars, thoughts?

how raceable are iwaver cars? Can you put your own electronics to a point, or mount up a transponder, etc?

Default Iwaver

They are basically Kyosho mini-z knock offs. They are considered by most to be of poorer qulity and reliability but not that bad way better than the really cheap knowck offs. I think Firelap is the same company.
None of these 1/28ths really lend themselves to different electronics. Motor replacements are fairly common.

I have a mini-z MR2 and I been disapointed in the quality. There is a good mini-z 1/28 only web site something like minizracer.com It has an Iwaver specific forum.

I will say the Kyosho electronics are superior to Iwaver. Iwaver are more prone to have glitching and range problems. They also use very fragile wiring used for power wires and that connect to the servo pot and servo motor.

Iwaver does not have a servo saver. It has the look of the plastic Kyosho servo saver, but its a solid piece and doesn't "give". Chassis is made of weaker plastic as well.

If you were to replace all the weak plastic parts, you would have what looks like a kyosho mini-z, but it still would have the gltiching range problems with the cheap pcb.

IMO, if you want a good deal on a mini-z, check ebay. Even a used mini-z will outperform a new Iwaver
