Default Got an Xray M18 with penguin chassis coming need info

1. Where can I get a link to a common standard carpet setup for the vehicle?

2. What brushless setups will fit the m18 as it sits?

3. If brushless doesn't fit stock, what do I need to buy to get it to?

4. What bodies fit the car from HPI and are good for carpet racing?

5. Do HPI tires fit the car or do I need some sort of adapter?

I think that is about it.

1. Try here.
3. Any 150mm body. Most use PF Mazda 6, Stratus or Alfas if you can find them
5. Yes

My carpet setup is:
Front:
GQ 40 shore
Rear hubs on front. Drill out center of wheel to remove screw and CA wheel to hub.
Atomic lowered yellow springs
Atomic threaded shock bodies
Stock shock mount position
6 or 12 degree caster
Tight X-Ray ball diff

Rear:
GQ 30 Shore
Atomic lowered Blue springs
Atomic shocks
2.5 degree toe-in
Med-Tight ball diff

If you plan to stick with the Penguin, I would buy a URC aluminum overhead motor mount. The graphite one can pop loose if hit hard enough.

HPI 150mm bodies look really good but dont hold up well for racing.
You can get Proline (protoform) bodies Mazda 6, Dodge Stratus and a Alfa body (disc.but some are out there)

A member at www.one18th.com (Homer) makes some really awesome bodies as well.
He makes some really sweet lids....

The saddle pack in the chassis may rob you of valuable space for your electrics.....try to keep everything on the lower deck....

Talking brushless

I fit my mamba 6800 in the standard motor mount, and the a/m metal ones.

standard spur with 17t pinion (smallest in kit?) makes big speed! 20+ foot straights needed.

Ditch those rims! Get some good quality foam tires, I go 35/30 40/35 depending on the track, that mamba needs a little slide or else it will flip in a hard corner. HPI Pink/Pink seems to be a big NO NO! Flips every time I make that last corner LOL!

It sure is a hoot!

BRP has that new COT nascar body I'm thinking of picking one up. His bodies are usually pretty robust for me. My stuff likes to get airborne

Have fun!

1. Xrays online setup sheet database for the M18 is another good place (works best in IE for the time being).
http://forum.teamxray.com/xsheets.php

2. 180 size brushless will fit the stock composite mount.

We also have a thread here on rctech with excellent information and pictures.
