Default Which offroad mini is the best for indoor carpet

Im currently looking to buy a mini to race a small carpet offroad track and need some advice. Im torn between the Vandetta ST and the RC18T with an Exotek chassis. If i were to keep the RC18T stock (chassis wise) I would probably go with the Vandetta, but the Exotek chassis appears to be the hot setup for the Associated. Does anyone out there have some advise and/or behind the wheel opinions? Possibly a different car all together? It will see a little dirt every now and then, but mostly carpet... THANKS!

Not much help to you but both of those are great cars. In the UK there are more ST's on the podium at the moment than RC18 but in the US it's other way around.

I have an Exotek RC18 and love it. Extremely capable car and I think as more good drivers get this platform you will see more of them on UK podiums.

The Exotek is more expensive to build.

The Xray M18T is another alternative. It has done very well in National and other top carpet 1/18th events. On carpet you want precision, and the Xray has that in spades. It comes stock with the bellcrank steering which your spending a buttload to obtain through aftermarket options for other manufacturers platforms. It comes with ball diffs and sway bars which also are two important parts for fast and controllable carpet racing.

They also just released foam tires for it in more than one type of compound, so its ability to be adjusted for each track and temperature has increased exponentially.

indoor carpet racing the rc18 w an exotek chassis is an awesome choice.....
the vendetta st is another good choice...but brushed motor availability can be an issue....
the x ray m18t does drive extremely well but if your a more of bash and crash racer it will cost you some bucks....they break easy....

Not to concerned about price, but the class tends to be somewhat of a bash-fest (drivers from 5 - 55) so strength is very important. I talked to one of the local racers from the club (runs Xray) and he said he has his hands full with RC18's, other Xray's and get this... a well setup MLST on this very jumpy track.

If you are getting an Exotek then make sure you get a good servo and servo saver as even with the brilliant steering assembly it has it can be a bit vague if you don't get it right. Running brushless in it makes it blisteringly fast and with the low weight it can get a little twitchy. RPM makes a nice bumper and super strong arms for it as well.

It's a great little car, very robust and quick as hell.
