If you're bashing (I'm guessing here) then you don't need to worry about that.
A cutoff is only really important when you're running lipos.

Ted,
When using a LiPo pack you should ensure that each cell (LiPo's are normally either 2 cell, or 3 cell) does not fall below 3V. Therefore you should ensure that a 2 cell pack does not fall below 6V and a 3 cell pack below 9V.
The Voltage Cut Off option is for those using LiPo's to ensure that their LiPo's do not fall below these voltages.
You do not need to use Voltage Cut Off with NiMh's.

I just bought some 3 cell lipos thats coming in the mail. If I set the voltage cut off at 9 volts, and after I feel like using a 7.4 volt nihm pack. Does this mean it will now work unless i have computer with me to set it back at no voltage cut off? Or will the mamba 25 speed control detect it?

ok to make sure the cutoff is set at 9V you press the MODE button until LED5 is lit. then press the INCR button until the bottom four LED's are lit. your cutoff will be set at 9V then.

Remember the cut off is for Safety....being safe sometimes has no regard for convience or ease of use.....Forgetting and or disregarding a safety procedure often spells disaster......
