If you are into buggies you should give the vendetta a look as well.
The Mini Inferno out of the box needs bearings, shocks, steering knuckles.
It will only go about 18mph stock. It uses saddlepacks. You will spend a lot of money to make it go fast....
The RC18B needs the steering tightened up (DP draglink $6) and a gear cover (DP $12) It goes over 20mph stock and the aftermarket makes a lot of hop ups...It uses standard battery packs and you can make it go very fast .....
the vendetta out of the box needs nothing. THe front end is a little weak but can be hopped up....
have fun choosing.....
remember there is no perfect vehicle..I suggest the rc18b based on support available hop ups and ease of use....we personally have 4 rc18 's

We is me and my son.
The RC18B is a great platform. You can also switch it from a buggy to a stadium truck to a monster truck and to a rally car with a few parts(rally needs the most). The stock electrics are good/better than most rtr s
You can go brushless on this sized vehicle for $100 or less....
You can even use a 9000kv motor in them....insanely stupid fast......
Another good thing about the RC18 is parts are not expensive.....
and they are easily found....now you need to decide who gets the red/white/blue one and who gets the black/orange/white one.....

I have both cars and they are both great!

The Inferno is slightly bigger and heavier and will handle rough tracks better. It is infinitely upgradeable but as been said before you will need to upgrade quite a bit of the car to make it handle brushless performance. I had to replace the entire drive train with metal gears, outdrives, locked the centre shaft, etc. but now it flies and I love it! It's still is my favourite micro car of all time.

The RC18B will be a much faster micro racer against other micro's for cheaper as you really don't need to do too much to it. It's also very upgradeable but for racing most of the upgrades really aren't needed.

So in short, if you are more of a basher then get the Inferno and if you are a serious micro racer then the RC18 is a better buy.

They are Yeah Racing 900mah 7.4v packs.

Just do a Google for: Yeah Racing (#LP-0015) Li-Po 7.4V 900mAh 2S1P Battery (SR)

They were $14.50 each, I ordered 4 and made 2 saddle packs. You need to squeeze them in a little but they do fit without modification.

Does that make a 900mah 14.8v pack or an 1800mah 7.4v pack?

How are you going to hardwire them? Are they the best packs to do it with?

But when you connect the 2 packs together, does it add voltage or capacity together? Or both?

If you connect them in series then you add the voltage together, not the capacity.

If you connect them in parallel then you add the capacity together, not the voltage.
