Default damper shocks

ok i got my shocks they didnt come with any directions other than how its fit together, my q is what exactly is a damper shock? is there a difference between it and a friction or oil filled shock? also they came with some silicone oil, sooo do i put it in the shocks or on them? btw they are 3racing aluminum shocks. another Q is the shock hardness, i know that softer shocks are better for offroad, but what benefit do harder ones have? like higher speeds or what?

Have to take apart and grease that inner rod.

My understanding is the friction have no place to hold any grease, yours have the grease area but oil would run out, the oils have a better seal and hold thinner oils.

Set up ...

I have the shorts on the front and the longer ones on the back. Im still playing with adjustments but seams on carpet the all the way down setting works best. My pops is stock shocks and I hold the track much better. I also have a very different chassis so I have to credit that too.
