Default AE RC18R On Road Touring Car

So....anyone have an opportunity to try one of these out?

From Team Associated:

"The Niteline 18R packs big-time 4WD on road performance into a mini-sized package!
Based on the original RC18T platform, the 18R features an Associated Niteline body, 7-spoke wheels and optimized onroad suspension for superior handling and traction.
The 18R is powered by an inline-mounted Super 370 high-performance motor, bolted to an aluminum motor mount with several mounting holes to fit most after-market 1:18 scale hop-up motors.
The 18R transfers all the power to the ground with its efficient shaft-drive, 4WD power-train featuring adjustable front and rear ball differentials.
The 18R suspension absorbs all of the bumps in the road with oil-filled shocks for smooth and consistent dampening. The four lower suspension arms are symmetrical and work with the molded upper suspension links to insure that the 18R's suspension geometry is optimum right out of the box."

Darn it....I was hoping it was a new design.

Guess I'll still get one to see what it's like. Maybe it can become another class at Strictly RC.

As long as you understand that its the 18R. Which if you already have a class separate for them is where this new body would go. Locally, 18rs are eaten alive by true 1/18th TCs. It's actually somewhat funny watching them switch ends in corners with people overpowering them with brushless.

We race indoors on carpet on a 1/18th scale sized track. When we run 18r's we put them together with off road 1/18ths. We don't have enough 18r's to make their own class. They take the jumps just fine.

I wonder if anyone will soon come out with foam tires scaled for the 18R's? One of our guys uses 12th scale Tamiya foams on his.....

Yeah, I can't see the Niteline competing with the Xray M18's on our indoor track.

Since the Niteline body is the only difference with the newest RC18R, I've merged those posts with the regular thread(no need for extra threads on the same subject)....And on a personal note, I LIKE that new body....

You can run the BRP foams for the Losi truck but make sure you get rear sets only. You'll have to change axles and trim the body to fit the foams under there so they don't rub but I'm running this setup on asphalt and it works great. Don't do anything stupid like put a brushless system in it. Just better batteries and gear up a couple of teeth. You'll be surprised how well it handles.
