I may be able to help only slightly here. I have an RC18T for now but plan to get an "R" as soon as some 1/18 racing starts up around here.
For the servo I got the AE 21049 servo saver kit for the Hitec servos. It comes with everything you need. I stuck an HS-56 in mine and am completely happy. I do have an HS-65 but don't see the need for it.
For the drag link and misc other goodies check out The TOYZ. My stuff just got here and I ordered it late Friday night! Among a ton of other things I got the Driven Productions brand drag link and gear cover. This is some pretty slick stuff. The 3Racing parts I got are great as well. He's got great parts, great prices and even better shipping!
I have a lot of airplane projects to finish so won't get back to the truck for a few days. I'll let you know how the steering parts work.

I had the same issues with my switch, also on another car my buddy purchased. Its just not a good switch.
I run the 18R outdoors on an asphalt sweeping track. At first I was dissapointed in the steering on mine, but after getting used to it, its not so bad. The car needs some adjustable turnbuckles asap.
I JUST GOT A 18R,AND ITS FUN TO DRIVE SO ANY TIPS AND ADVICE ARE WELCOME.I'M LOOKING FOR A TRACK AND A CLUB,SO IF YOU KNOW ANY IN
McHENRY COUNTY IN ILLINOIS OR WALTWORTH CO. IN WISCONSIN LET ME KNOW.
His and Hers Hobbies runs a great 1/18th scale racing program. It's in Kenosha. I really like the people who race there and the owners goway out of their way to make everyone feel at home. You owe it to yourself to at least go check it out. What's real cool is that the track is open for practice anytime the hobbyshop is open which means in the middle of the day besides just weekends:
I've also heard reports that the Crystal Lake Hobbytown has an indoor track. I've yet to see it, but it is confirmed that a track does exist there. They ran outdoor parking lot races last Summer.
There's a new track on the Northwest side of Chicago, near Lawrence Ave and Harlem, 5 minutes from O'hare called Strictly RC. 7723 W. Lawrence, Norridge IL. Strictlyrc has just built a new track specifically for 1/18th scale.
OK I GOT THE STEERING KIT FROM INTEGY AND IT WORKS VERY GOOD,BUT SOMETIMES AFTER STEERING THE WHEELS DONT GO BACK TO A STRAIGHT POINT.
SO WS NEXT ? UPGRADE SERVO? OR THE TRANSMITER SUCKS? OR BOTH?

AND CHICAGO THANKS FOR THE INFO
It's probably you servo not centering. If it is that all the upgrade alum parts won't help. I think with a decent servo and stock parts the 18R works perfectly.
At my track a guy figured out how to mount 1/12 TRC front foams. They fit perfect without any crazy sticking out or enlarging the wheel wells. Now his 18R is working real well
I'm new to 1/18 scale and I'm racing my RC18r on an oval w/ a unique surface, polished hard wood (skating rink).
I have a pretty severe off power push entering the corner, coming off the corner I seem to be fine and my ability to accelerate leaves little to be desired.
However the push into the corner is really hurting my lap times.
I am running 25 weight synth oil w/ silver springs in front and 40 weight synth oil w/ blue springs in the rear.
Running about 2 degrees of positive camber on the left front and 2 degrees of negative camber on the right front. Also running a bit of tow out on the front.
Rear is stock toe and o camber on both sides.
I read that loosening the front diff a bit can help w/ my off power push, but is there anything else I can do or are any suggestions on my set up I need to change?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Polished hardwood? Wow good luck with just changing springs and angles to get traction on that surface Over in England I know they race on that surface there with 1/10 sedans and I always heard that they had to use narrow step pin rally tires for grip. I guess all the little 'fingers' on the tires created the traction.
