You guys that are running brushless motors in the 18R. How are the plastic dogbones holding up? Or are there metal ones out there somewhere. They are shorter than the T,B, and MT right?

Yes the dog bones are shorter on the 18r. They have not released them yet.

At our 1/18th scale track I tried a just out of the box RC18R on the Ozite carpet. The thing is very speedy but all it did was push really badly through turns when you are on the throttle.

I'm thinking that the first adjustment is to go with way softer springs up front.

Anyone experience this pushing and if so have you solved it.

I think the car on carpet is dying for foams, but being that all there are right now is the stock tires I'd like to try and get this thing to hook up.

I found the same thing the first time I ran mine. I run mine on asphalt that has medium grip. My car pushed also, but you just have to wait on it. You have to let the tires do the work and slow it down in the turns until they do. This is why I like the car. It cant be compared to an 1:18 TC like an xray. They are in a class of their own. We will race them in their own class, and everyone will have the same basic handeling.

Foams will be a great hop up once they are available. Ive never ran on carpet so im not real sure what the stock tires would be like, but I could imagine them being very slick.

We race Tamiya Mini Cooper's and the 18R reminds me of how a mini cooper handles. But Mini Coopers can be set up so they feel neutral even though they are running stock rubber Tamiya tires.

Default Spektrum Receiver on 18r

Hi guys, I'm a newbie to the RC18r and run GP more than EP. I have a RC18r and I want to use my Spektrum pro receiver. I did the binding process with the Spektrum and setup the ESC following Associated's directions. But after I charge up my battery to run, I have to bind my DSM evertime. My steering seems to work fine, but my throttle doesn't work correctly (throttle gliches or runs without any throttle from the radio).

I've tried two different pro receivers and two different radios (KO Helios and Futaba 3PK in ppm mode). I also switched out my ESC from my 18T. And I'm coming up with the same result. Do any of you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

It's because of all of the front kick up. Not the best castor angle for on-road- You lose contact patch on the front tires when you turn. You might have to get real aggressive w/ the rear springs to create weight transfer but that can cause other problems.

T1bobo- buy new tires, they don't last very long performance wise. Kel its prolly the on/off switch. Mine has been doing the same thing.

Is there alot of slop in your steering likages? Did you limit the shocks? Did you do the lexan mod? That helps a little.
