Default BIG BLOCK OVER HEAT!

i have a 18B and i put a orion BIG block in it. im just running it in my alley behind my house that is fairly smooth. no matter what i do to this motor the thing comes off to the point where my finger cant touch it with out being burned! no matter what the pinion size is it still comes off hot! this is only about 3 min of running with complete cool downs in between runs.
is this normal for this motor?

how are you setting your gear mesh??? does the vehicle have a bind in the drivetrain??? a tight mesh or something binding will cause your motor to run hot.....

I've been racing my RC18T with a Big Block using a 17 tooth pinion, it reaches about 150 degrees after a 6 minute race.

the motor will only get hot under load, so the motor will stay cool if its just spinning freely, or spinning the wheels when attatched to the charger.
