Thanks for your help everyone.
I never said they were the same.....

" 'Module' is the unit of size that indicates how big or small the gear is. It is the ratio of the reference diameter of the gear divided by the number of teeth.
'Pitch' of a gear is the distance between equivalent points on adjacent teeth. "
I hope that clarifies any confusion.

I'm guessing the 'noise' you heard may have been caused by using a .5 module (even though it was a 48 pitch) on the Detta spur (.6 module with 48 pitch).
Never mind now though, the motor sounds as though it was not really up to the job. What motor did you end up going with ?

for 1/8" shaft you can use Tamiya mod .6 gears or RW Racing ones that are made for mongoose

Best motor is Permax 5100kv however it's no longer made.
Now the best motor is Neu 1105. The only dowside are very strong magnets that make jumping bit harder.

Is outrunner brushless 3500kv a good news or bad for my detta? Can it easily fit on stock detta motor holder? Does it suck up huge amp? overheat problem? torque power?
Thanks.

Stay away from outrunner. Inrunner is the way to go.

Are you located in the USA and do you already have a motor and/or ESC?

Well the can of the outrunner spins meaning that you have to make sure all wires are away from it so they don't get damaged. An inrunner does not require this though.

I own several dettas, And I own inrunners and outrunners. The three dettas sitting infront of me right now have the multiplex 4004d, the gh 4700 blue motor, and an eflight 420 outrunner. The out runner is the lowest kv. but by far the smoothest, torqueyest, most efficent motor of the bunch. You'll never hear me badmouth an outrunner. Btw the only drawback I see with an out runner is typically the endbell acts as a ducted fan, keeping the motor cool. If you run a dirty track it will suck debris into the motor. Something to keep in mind.

Yes, 1/8" and 3.2mm (it's actually 3.17mm) are the same. The Duratrax gears are 48p Metric whereas most other models are 48p standard. RRP does make the metric pinions as well as Tamiya.
