For speed runs, I use 4S 1550mAh LiPo:

It's crazy fast.

For general racing and stuff, I use these batteries because they're what I use in my Mini E-Revo:

You can probably even go for something like a 4000mAh 2S LiPo if you wanted long run times. But something like 1800-2200mAh is the most you want to run for racing, save weight.

Hobbycity Lipos are great, I have several packs for various size cars and they all work perfect. I will not be buying anything else unless they start having some serious problems.

Finding any pack over 2500mah that will fit in a Recoil is going to be tough, they could be out there but I have not seen them.

Hobbycity LiPos are great, many times cheaper then what's available locally, and performance is awesome too.

Here is my Recoil build thread for speed runs:
http://www.ausrc.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18472

Currently running 4S LiPo with a 380 sized motor, gearing is 56T spur and 31T pinion

Ordering is easy, but shipping is expensive. Normal shipping from HK is expensive and takes a few weeks, maybe more if there is any delays. They have an EMS express shipping that is fast, but you will pay big bucks for it. With this in mind they are still ALOT cheaper than any other Lipos out there and perform just as well. I have a few packs with over 100 cycles now and they are not showing any sign of slowing down, and the capacity has not fallen off at all.

Hey Dan your old BMI is a sharp looking pan car these days. Looks brand new. Recoil is one of the largest classes we race over here in Spokane. It is a spec class for us. Not real fast with the Associated 370 motor we must run, but FUN! If you are ever over here, we race every second and fourth Saturday evening from 6:00 until about 11:00 or midnight.
