Nexus, We're still waiting on the foams... 35's are supposed to be sent real soon.
We've been having a blast with them at Duneland.
Stock motor sucks....bad materials, bad brush hoods. Many have burned up in short order. Mine went out at Strictly last Sunday. I have been experimenting with other motors that provide similar performance. It looks like the upgrade motor for the Carisma M14 will be a great substitue. It is a 380 size motor and requires some very easy mods. First, there is an adapter plate from E-Flite that cost a couple bucks (EFLM1910) then lengthen the opening in the chassis. New motor is longer and excess chassis material is quickly removed with a coarse sanding drum on a dremel.
Some of us have mounted Carisma M14 rear tires on the back of our Recoils. $4.99 a pair.
Other set-up tips available if you guys get on board.
We race them on Sat. night.
Disaster,
There is no 4wd Carisma. The Sportwerks Recoil is made by Carisma, but they do not market the car under there own name.
ALL hobby-level R/C cars are proportional steering... Xmods are just sloppy and inaccurate.
No reason to take a chance on Ebay. Most hobby stores will have the Carisma M14 for $99.
It is a GREAT spec class. Handles great, very durable, best value in rc racing.
Perfect class for people starting out or on a tight budget.
Are you sure? I remember seeing something on rczone in October last year on their forums talking about a new 1/14 onroad car called the Carisma.

Yes. The car was originally shown at the Nuremburg show as a new car from Carisma. I contacted Horizon, urging them to bring it in, they ended up contracting Carisma to produce it as a Sportwerks car.
Some of the option parts showed up today!!
Full sets of Aluminum shocks..$19.99 for all 4!
Complete CVD set for $15.99!
Blue turnbuckle set (all 8) for $9.99!
Sure can't complain about the prices!

Do you have the part numbers for them?
I have a Recoil on order at a LHS. Now I just need to get the money to pick it up when it gets here.
I've got the M18 and it's QC is amazing which is the thing that worries me about the Recoil. I may lean toward the M18T for a little more ground clearance instead of the Recoil. I'd be more tempted by a $99 Recoil kit. I pretty much run brushless exclusively...maintenance free.

The Xray is way different I understand and both are separate "scales". Each has there place but hell I'd really like both.
Thanks for the info. Place looks nice. Guess I'll have to get a Recoil so I can join the fun. You should get a gas sedan while you're at so you can run with Ron and I this summer over at Leisure.

Hey Kevin and Nexus, don't feel that the foam tires are a must! The rubber tires work really really well. We've run them here on asphalt and carpet and they're dialed.
We've done some crazy things with one of the test cars here (9200 Dynamite C4 brushless with a 3 cell LiPo= 58MPH rocket!) and everything has held up well.
My suggestion to get the class going is just do a a class where it's stock motor and battery to make it possible for anyone to show up and be competitive, all while keeping the costs down and not forcing people to invest in LiPo or brushless quite yet. What we're doing here, and there's a bunch of people from work that just picked them up that have never raced is this:
Kit tires
Any chassis hop-up
Stock Motor
Stock 1100MAH battery
Any ESC, receiver, and Servo
Either an 11 or 12T pinion (we have a smaller track here)
These things absolutely drive awesome and are a blast and you don't need to throw hundreds of dollars at it to make them go well.

Yikes I thought we were safe from Gary here :P
J/K lol I think running stock is what the plan is at the track. Thanks for the input though. The place is small as well but a fun place to hangout and just mess with mini's.
Our stock Recoil class will be defined as; 6 cell 2/3A pack (Integy Intellect 1400's are only twenty bucks), kit motor or Carisma 380 upgrade motor (I have been testing 380's and that one has performance comairable to kit motor, but will last more than a couple race days).
At this point I am disinclined to regulate tires. I like the Carisma m14 rear tires better and they are only $4.99 a pair. Might use foams in the mod class only. Heck we might not run a mod class. It will take a lot of work to make them even close to as fast as our 1/18 cars. Might just rely on 1/18 to satisfy the need for speed!
