I have a Tailwhip Drift car that I have added the XLR-8 motor - now I have a problem with the car wanting to take a right turn under full throttle. It is really apparent when drifting to the left under throttle - when the trying to pull out of the left turn and go straight under full throttle, the car wants to do a 180 and go right. This makes it hard to keep a smooth line - any suggestions on set-up? Yes, I have a 1/10 scale car too.
I'm having trouble with my mamba in my recoil. It worked fine at the January jam and I haven't run it since. Today I go to run it and it starts to stutter then takes off. Only stutters forward not when I use reverse. Is there something binding or do I need to get new batteries

what motor/gearing/batt./esc settings are you running? only thing i could think of offhand is that if you are using nimh cells and the voltage cutoff is on, turn it off. other than that just the obvious, make sure the batts are fully charged, no drivetrain problems, etc. also, try re-setting the endpoints.

You shouldnt polish any components of the diff. polishing makes the surfaces smooth. While this may seem ideal, it is actually the opposite of what you want. When the surfaces are smooth, the diff will require more pressure to keep it from slipping, and the components will wear out faster. Taking a fine grit sanderpaper(800 or finer) to the components is a better idea. The rough surfaces bite easier, and thus will require less pressure on the diff for it to operate properly, and will extend time between rebuilds (not to mention the diff will be smoother)
I'm going for flat, not smooth. That 2,000 I noted above is not correct. I typically use 500 or 600 grit paper. This should leave plenty of "tooth" on the rings for the balls to bite into. Not to mention the track that the balls make on the rings after the diff is run in is probably smoother than I could get even with 2,000 grit.
I have the Speed Passion Emotion 6900 motor and the mamba micro pro. with a 7.2 EP 1500 Ni-MH 6cell Pack. Runs fine when motor isn't touching the spur. Once I set the mount it starts to bind. I just rest the end points. How do I set the cutoff.

You either need to go through and program the ESC manually, or use a castle link to set the cut off voltage. I would try another battery to make sure that is not the issue. if the pack has a bad cell, the voltage will drop a lot under load, causing the cogging. If the battery has been sitting around for a while dead (or plugged in, in which case it will go dead), its very possible a cell went bad, Nimh's need to be stored with charge, because they self-discharge over time, and the chanc of going bad is much greater when the cell is dead.

hey guys, what is a good brushless motor+esc combo? im new to the electric world... and what about pitch etc etc...
i just want to have some fun with it on the track, not serious racing, but something to get me around on the track thats all in race day...thanks
how much modding did you have to do to get it to fit? been thinking about getting the detta ball diffs for the plastic outdrives, the recoil ball diff outdrives wear a notch that can cause some mighty frustrating handling issues..

hey Chad when you used the AE t/b/r shock shafts did you have to buy 2 sets? and you did you use only the front shock shafts?
ESC and motor combo all depends on what kinda of power you want
I'm still trying to decide whether or not to do it. Right now I'm running Recoil rear shafts all the way around to get enough ride height in the front. I've been neglecting the Recoil since the Gen X 10 came along, but I'm trying to go through it before racing this weekend. Who's running yours this weekend?

Not to much modding
Need detta gear diff
I had bought some AE18 diff shims but did not use then (didn't buy enough probably need 2-3 packs)
so I used an o-ring to shim the left side (not sure how its going to hold up)
thats how I shimmed the ring and pinion for good mesh
I had to shim one of the out drives to clear the bulkhead
well see how it does this weekend!
Chad I ended up using both front shock shafts from the AE18
they are a little long but I think they will work
and I'm running it this weekend just going to let Joe try it
