Hey Dave! Its possible Ill drive up there and chill, a few of the guys down here are thinking about going up there to check it out. However I have NOOOO equipment to race. Sold most everything lol....and now Im trying to get back into it.
In doing research I read "digital proportional steering" in the description of the Carisma and got nervous. That is how RadioShack described the steering on the Xmods and that was TERRIBLE.
I've been playing around with a Carisma alot lately. The steering is just fine. No problems. The Carisma will be a spec class at Strictly RC's 1/18th track. It's a great vehicle for the 99 dollar price point. The Carisma also takes a real beating. The one I've been running is owned by an 8 year old who never drove before this car. He's been smacking it at full speed against 1 1/2 PVC pipes. So far the only thing that has broke is a wheel hub. Nothing else.
Carisma makes the 1/14th 2WRD, and yes they also make the Recoil. Sportwerks slaps their name on it then sells it.
Disaster,
There is no 4wd Carisma. The Sportwerks Recoil is made by Carisma, but they do not market the car under there own name.
ALL hobby-level R/C cars are proportional steering... Xmods are just sloppy and inaccurate.
No reason to take a chance on Ebay. Most hobby stores will have the Carisma M14 for $99.
It is a GREAT spec class. Handles great, very durable, best value in rc racing.
Perfect class for people starting out or on a tight budget.

Kenji....how well does the stock radio/ESC/Rec and everything work...like range... is that what you are using? And what nights is Strictly RC going to be racing when they start up? This car looks like fun and if they are going to have a box stock spec class I would like to get one. Is there any rules on battery size or capacity? Does strictly RC have parts in stock for them?

Kevin.
I drove Kenji's Recoil last week at Strictly. I will say that out of the box that car worked pretty well. For the size of the car and size of the track it is perfect. Probably running 4-5max at one time.
It was fun to just charge it and drive. With basically no worry about setup and crap Just run, fun, done LOL
