Wow, its been a few months since I was last here (may). A few pages back I started to post some info, now for some current updates.

Just recently started a re-rebuild of my Recoil. I tore it down almost as soon as I received it so I could learn how it all goes together. Once I got the ESC/batt's hooked up I started to notice some issues. So I had to eventually tear it down and redo it again.

One of the issues was, to see why the servo was making a lot more noise then normal. Turns out the little motor was fighting with itself for what direction it wanted to go. It wouldn't stay centred and it would constantly go from left to right and back again when powered up.

It was a JR DS285mg btw. Gears are good, case is good, motor is screwed. So it was nice to see some servo replacement suggestions listed above. Because I will be ordering one from my LHS.

Second issue I had on my re-do, was driveline hopping/wobbling when in turns. If the car is on a stand, going straight its ok. When I try and turn in either direction, the cvds and centre shaft wobble the whole car. It only seemed to go away when the front wheels were removed (stock rubbers). I will be replacing the four diff cups to correct some damage on them and I will be putting some extra foam shims into the cups to take up some slack with the CVDS.

I also noticed the nut off the spur gear wasnt put back in properly, so I will be fixing that on my redo as well. Which could be why im having these wobbling issues.

Now ....on another note, has anyone seen chrome coloured CVDs that can be used w/ the Recoil? The CVDs on Sportwerks webpage are 100% black. Mine are black (wheel nut side) and chrome for the dogbone part. I wondered if maybe they were MIPs. But I couldn't see any on their webpage that would work.

btw ... Hi goes out to Russ Winn

My stock Recoil has the black ones, but my Pro version has the silver ones.

just finished tearing my pro down last night
noticed right out of the box front and rear diff's were crunchy
rebuilt them with new 3mm balls and stealth lube butter smooth now
Installed a cut click type pen spring in the outdrive cups for the center drive shaft to help eliminate wobble

What are the spring options for the car?
what do you do about droop? (adjust shock end cap's ?)

Ok,... so that might mean that the version I bought was truely a pro. I bought it off of Fleabay and the ad said it was "pro". Everything turned out to be a pro equipped car. Just sometimes, you never know. LOL.

Stock photo below... black.

Well mine was wobbling due to improper angles of the centre shaft..heh. But I like that tip about using a pen spring. I need to do something like that for my cvds to wheel, because I have a lot of slack right now.

Which 3mm balls did you end up installing? I might have to pickup some of that stealth lube as well. Right now I ended up using that black Traxxas lube. But I think it might be too thick.

That's odd, all the pros I've seen has the silver ones and all the normal Recoils has the black one.

Which would honestly make sense in identifying parts for which model.

I know of about 2 others that have black CVDs and never seen the chrome ones before. As far as I know they are both pro versions. One I know is definately a pro version (just cuz he has to have the best)..lol.

I was more or less curious if they were the wrong ones in there. Due to the amount of extra slack between the CVD cup and where it connects up to the inner bearing.

I'll probablu just by the shock towers. The rest looks like the Pro version. I hope they make a nice body like the one they made for the 18R.
