If any one is interested I have decided to sell my Recoils. There are 5 of them and 2 containers of parts. Send me a PM if you are interested in them.

Go with foam. the rubber tires wear out first run. Far cheaper to run the foams, works better too.

Default motor options

I am debating over the options for a brushless motor, I will be running 2s lipo
Current options -

Hyperion Y22
Mamba Micro Pro 6900kv combo
Neu 1105/1.5y
Ammo 28-33-3900kv

Currently thinking the ammo looks good, however as this is a plane motor will the open design cause problems with dirt?

Also with the ammo what esc would be suitable/good -

Quark Pro 22a
Quark Pro 33a
Mamba micro pro

Whilst I am on a roll, what gearing would be suggested?

The Neu and the Ammo are both open designs. A friend of mine has the 24mm diameter Ammo and it's pretty fast. I clocked him at 42mph. Has any of you guys found good aftermarket hop ups for the Recoil?

42mph on the ammo????
That is waaay too fast for me, got other cars for those sorts of speeds

If I go the simple route and pick up a mamba micro pro combo, would the higher or lower kv motor run cooler?

Regarding gearing with the mamba, can anybody (who isn't having heat problems) tell me their KV and gearing please?

lower kv will run cooler. right now i have mine for speed runs 8k/3s lipo with a 11t or 12t pinion should run cool all day. for speed an 18t will run for 5 mins.

Ive put in the Team Trinity Cobalt 14T and the esc's handling it nicly. Running on a 1400 6 cell. Its alot quicker then stock. My guess with stock gearing somewhere up around 35.

Anyone got any tips on how to figure out your speed without a speed gun ?

Is anyone making any up grades for this thing, chassis, alloy stuff ?

Just got back into rc, forgot how fun it was. BTW im scott, and im new to the forum, but have been on and off rc for 5-6 years.

Great forum guys, heaps of good info.

I have started collecting parts for my power upgrades. Motor -

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=4200

For the price I couldn't resist.

Anyway, onto my question. Pinions.. I was reading that many people run 48P pinions with the standard spur. Is this ok? What are the risks/damage?
