Got a couple of questions about the recoil.

Has anyone tried the Losi brushless motors in the Recoil yet?
Think the 7400kV will work good enough with 1200 to 1400mAh NiMH, or would a lower/higher kV be better (6000 or 9400)?
How do you eliminate wheel hop on the front tires?

I'm running and VR3 on NiMH now, while its pretty fast for a brushed motor, I just can't hang with the brushless/li-po guys. Not getting out driven, just flat out getting killed in speed. The Losi is bigger in diameter than the mamba and I would rather get that, unless of course they are really bad then I'd get the mamba. I race like once every two months, so I can't justify sinking the money into brushless and li-po, so one will have to do right now and I think brushless will yield a bigger gain (unless I'm wrong). Have an esc so I just need the motor.

As far as the set-up goes, I just need to know how to generally get rid of it in the front tires (ie. lower/higher weight oil, less/more pre-load, lay down/raise up the shocks, etc). I know how to get rid of it in the rear and tried the same things to the front with no luck. The front right tire was bouncing like a rabbit on steroids when I turned right.

Thanks for the help.

The mamba motors do fine in recoils. the only reason mine gets real hot is because im running an 8000kv/3s lipos with a big gearing (im racing nitro cars ). the 6800 or 8000 w/ 6cell nimh or 2s lipo will be fine. as for losi stuff never ran it ive heard plenty of stories about esc's though (1/10 and 1/18) going up with 3s lipos.

as for the wheel hop, either your car is tweaked (most likely because its only 1 side) or your front end is too stiff.

Default noob question about recoil: will it wreck on asphalt?

Hey,

Can I run the recoil outside: on sidewalks, tennis court, basketball court, parking lots? Or will it ruin the car for the carpet racing I intend to do later on?

It's a noob question, I know.. but please shed some light here...

Yes, you can run it outside. But you will scratch up the botom of the chassis.

Ran mine with a Mega ACn16/15/1 (9200Kv 6 pole monster) and it was freakish fast. I have a Neu 1107/1.5D (8500Kv) that I was going to try, but I made a mistake on my 60A ESC setting and it smoked a couple of FETs.

WHAT KIND OF SPEED CONTROL WOULD YOU RECOMMEND FOR THE SET ABOVE?

The eZRun 60A by Hobbywing. It is the only one that would turn that motor. I tried my Mamba25, Quark 33 and even a Kontronik 70A Beat car and the only one that had no issues was the Hobbywing.

Any tips for improving handling? My recoil doesn't handle well on carpet. I will try changing the tires, but what else is there?

Have you tried running foam tires?
Change the oil in your shocks.

Those are the 2 things I can think of.
