Since the chassis is capable of holding a 7 cell side-by-side battery pack, give it a try. It'll move like a 19T 1/10th scale touring car, and so far no adverse effects after running 3 heats and a main against 1/10th scales.

Sounds good guys. My LHS seems to have a decent stock of spare parts. Once they get the foams in Im definatly getting one.

Asfar as making this a spec class goes....all I want is a mild BL setup in it so that I dont have to do any motor work.

I just think its a great size...the M18 is too squirly and a 10th scale TC is too big (and expensive) for most of the indoor tracks around here. And lets not bring up 12th scale touring..that was a disaster and most agreed they were got slow on four cells. Im getting one and am going to try it when the foams come out. If its fun..then Im going to try and drum up some support for a racing class. Id also like to make it a brushless class. NOOO more micro motor maintainence...anyone who has raced micros knows what a pain in the ass it is to deal with brushed micro motors.

shorter layoff than i expected ariel..welcome back..but i might be on the move now

Yes I am racing at duneland. The durability of the car seems to be very good, I did see one person break the center of a wheel after a hard hit but that was it. I think that we are going to run the recoil stock until we get enough for both a mod and stock class. Ron and I as well as others have been running the m18 unlimited class for a while and this is a nice break from that class, I am really enjoying this car! My rear diff seemed to go from tight to loose back to tight last night after each heat, I disassembled it tonight and found a lot of flashing on the spider gears, easy fix with a x-acto knife. The diffs are not o-ring sealed but you can easily put some heavy diff fluid or grease on the gears to adjust the diff. The surface that we race on has alot of traction so I am going to tighten mine up, also going to reduce some rear toe-in as well. Hope everyone is having as much fun with this car as I am. Good racing to all.

As with any shaft driven 4wd car there is a certain amount of noise that comes from the shaft. It will never be as quiet as a belt car, but the noise is not excessive.

Cool, my M18 never ran very loud; aslong as the pinion and spur meshed correctly.

The gear mesh is quiet as long as the backlash is set properly.
All spare parts are available & inexpensive. I found no probem in stocking any part likely to break. A full set of tires (mounted & glued) is just $10.99.
Clear bodies are in stock and have very good detail & no thin spots. Stock electronics work well except for the steering servo (as velcro mentioned).
Some attention to detail is recomended... Such as; brushes have a tendency to hang-up (remove brushes and clean-up/debur hoods), change shock oil, set droop. Gears are .5 module, same as many of the 1/18 cars/trucks etc.
I predict this car will be a big hit & spawn a new racing class.

I just hope I dont kill the class before its born by throwing a brushless setup in it. Mind you Im NOT interested in BL for insane speed, I wouldnt mind atall if it wasnt much faster than stock. I only want it so that I dont have to work on motors.

OH ANOTHER QUESTION! lol...what kind of batteries are you running and what are the run times like? Making 5 mins easily and if so would 6 minutes be out of the question?

By the way, we will be offering a stock and a mod class. Stock will be defined in much the same way as 1/10 tc. That is, motor/ battery & possibly tires will be the defining factors. No limitations on chassis set-up or radio/electronics. Mod will be no restrictions.

On a small carpet track, the car lasts about 5 minutes on the stock 6 cell 1100 MaH battery before it starts to show signs of slowing down, should last about 7-8 minutes before the battery really tanks. With a 7 cell Venom 1200 pack, it will last for about 6-7 minutes before dropping out.
