Kenji, I think it is going to hold up quite well! There are 3 of us running today, and we are all having a blast! They handle my track extremely well. This is as small a track as I would want to run one on, and about the largest car that would work well on my track...34' X 19'.
Stock servo is too slow for me, I put one of the new Integy servos in mine. Nice improvement...
Kit was equiped with additional adaptors for the saver, as well as different toe-in blocks (2,3, and 4 deg).
Yes, I ordered them last night,,,Didn't think they had clear ones yet (thought I had ordered them way back with the first order... guess not). Anywho, the clear ones will be here tomorrow.
Got an e-mail from Horizonhobby stating the car will not get to my doors until Monday, but the local hobby shop surprisingly had two in stock. We turned one of them into a demo car, so I got to mess with it for a while. There were some 1/10th scale touring cars on the track, so we were curious to see how it stacks up. Of all the mini R/Cs I've driven and tried, this one really surprised me. I guess I wasn't expecting much since it barely cost more than a Duratrax Vendetta, but wow. On a 30'x80' carpet technical track, it will keep up and pass 27T cars! Speedwise, it is a tad slower than a good 27T, but this car is very easy and enjoyable to drive, so while it may not keep up on the straightaways, its abilities shine in the corners. Given its size and good power to weight ratio, it's a wildcard when up against 1/10th scale touring cars with 27T motors. It's durable too, had it ran into a spun out car at full speed and slammed against a wood barricade, nothing broken. Can't wait to get mine!
A couple of things I recommend doing to the car is to change out the bushings in the steering assembly to make it a bit smoother, and the stock servo is quite slow. The stock servo is a micro-sized, but the package provides mountings for mini servos such as the Futaba S3102 or the Hobbico CS-12. All in all, the Recoil is a very impressive car, for ~$170 you definitely get your money's worth. The only other mini R/C that has impressed me this much was the Mini-Inferno 09.

I never even heard of them but my lhs had two in stock yesterday and one came home with me. I cant wait to throw it down on the track Sunday. It looks really well put together. I am also glad to see some other interest in this car.Maybe they will let me race it in the 18 class its not much bigger than my 18r
This is the best RTR product we've ever purchased. Took it out of the box, charged the battery, coated the tires with traction compound, dropped it on Ozite. It runs like a champ right out of the box. It's only get even better better once we make subtle changes.
I think box stock will make a great class addition to any carpet track program. I also think people are going to want to mod the crap out of it too to get the vehicle to go as fast as it possibly can.
Personally for 170 bucks, I want to leave it as is and race others who leave their's stock so it's racer's skill not how much money is thrown at it that wins.
Kenji,
Yep, I totally agree. For $170, this thing is fantastic. Very well built and a lot of fun to drive right out of the box.
Now where is my Wraith........
Matt
I saw one today. I must say I was impressed with the car's quality out of the box. Ofcourse the electronics need to take a hike and some bearings need to be thrown in. I smell a pro kit somwhere down the line. I think Im getting one.
I just think its a great size...the M18 is too squirly and a 10th scale TC is too big (and expensive) for most of the indoor tracks around here. And lets not bring up 12th scale touring..that was a disaster and most agreed they were got slow on four cells. Im getting one and am going to try it when the foams come out. If its fun..then Im going to try and drum up some support for a racing class. Id also like to make it a brushless class. NOOO more micro motor maintainence...anyone who has raced micros knows what a pain in the ass it is to deal with brushed micro motors.
Six of us just got done racing our recoils tonight and everyone had a blast! Most of us have been racing micro scales since the mini-z and this is one of the best products to come out in a while. All we have done to ours is replace the steering servo, increase shock oil weight, set the droop properly and race. The stock servo just seems to lack the torque needed, but you do not need an expensive replacement, just use an inexpensive larger scale servo and shoe-goo it to the chassis. Looking forward to more recoil racing.
