I noticed in your profile it says you are in Colorado Springs
Where do you race in Colorado Springs? The only track I know of is the R.U.G. I have not raced there yet, but I have went and practiced a couple of times. I was planning on going this Sat., but I am going to have to wait as I forgot we made plans.
I would love to try foams, but I can not find them anywhere and I do not have a tire truer so mounting 1/12 scale is out of the question.
I am fairly new to rc and I purchased the optional steering bearings and have no idea were they go I like the car alot thinking about putting a wraith in it.It is awful loud,is it suppose to be loud........thks
I entered to race my recoil this last tuesday (27mar07) and there were 2 other guys there with them. A 4th person had blown his sterring servo so he could not race.
Races got ready, and I went out on the track with my stock car, and after it got 5 feet from me, I would lose reception and it would steer into the wall. It would have been my first race but I could not race it. So the other 2 guys raced and that was it.
Now Im putting my nomadio 2.4Ghz radio in there so no more interference.
There are about 8-9 people in colorado springs with recoils that have been to the R.U.G., We could have a decent class going.
Also the store has had 2 shipments of foam tires come in. I finally got some. I have also built a plastic bumper in the front and the side of the car that 'protect' my wheels so they dont break.
Sorry to hear about the bad luck. I noticed when I was there that there is a "dead" spot in one of the corners. Every time I was in that corner, my car would completley stop and I could do nothing until physically moving it out of the spot. Another driver told me they think it's from the giant speakers they have sitting there.
I want to put my MX3 in mine, but I need a different receiver and ESC first as my system is FM and the stock is AM.
Do you know if they got any wheels or just the foams? I have yet to have a wheel brake on me, but one of them has a small nick in the edge of the rim. Better to be safe than sorry.
Has anyone seem any after market wheels for these yet? I image it is only a matter of time as these cars seem to be pretty popular!

I am not sure what it could be that is loud on your car, but I did notice I got a loud squeak in mine after a few runs. It seems to only occur when coasting, so at this point I suspect the motor.

They go in the bellcranks themselves. There's 6 bearings total. I also bought another set to install in the C-Hubs as well. Silky smooth with full bearings.

You're the first person I've heard of that has had issues with the stock radio system. You're positive no-one else was on your frequency?
Just as an aside, a number of us are going to do some asphalt running with the Recoils tonight. It's too nice to be stuck inside on carpet. Looking forward to it, that's for sure!

Cars worked great on asphalt tonight guys. We didn't spray any traction additive onto the surface, but everyone's cars still worked very well. There was one rough spot in a high-speed sweeper that the cars were bottoming out over just a bit. An increase in ride height solved the issue. We ran worn tires to start, and for the last 2 packs I ran new tires (all rubber). It seemed like the new tires allowed the car to have some more initial turn-in. I still would have liked a little more initial turn in, but I think with some tuning I'll get the handling I am looking for. Tire wear was very good too, even with two high-speed left-hand sweepers. I ran my car with a Dynamite Mini-Tazer brushless ESC and 8000kv C4 Brushless motor with a 10t Pinion, while everyone else ran the stock motors and pinion. It seemed like we were really even on speed everywhere except the last 10-15 feet of the straight where I had a little more top speed. Runtime was about 8-10 minutes and the motors ran relatively cool too. I am digging this car, especially with spring/summer parking lot season about to hit full swing.

i have one in mine and its a beast. you may want to pick up an extra diff set because mine broke on the axle output, but it may have been just a weak spot since i haven't done it again.
yes it is. go ahead and get the high speed kit also since you can gear up for more speed with this motor. itll keep its torque and stay cool with the fastest gear ratio in the pack.
