Hey Ron! How much? Can you bring one to Leisure Wed. so we can see it test run? I know everyone at the track is talking about getting them, so you may have a big order there. Take care, bud!

Duneland, I think thats a mistake. Thats not center point steering since the servo of that size is not in the middle. your not getting the same Ackerman left to right. Its supposed to use a drag link idea like the initial pictures show.

If you use a smaller servo though, which shouldnt be a problem with the less torque it needs you shouldnt have problems.

And seem my post last page as to why as a racer you shouldn't be buying directly from Tower!

If your a ignorant basher, thats one thing. But buying from Tower simple because they are the cheapest as a racer is another.

We need to get Ron, you and neuxs over along with that Robitronic counting system.....if that things is about $500, I think we (fathers) are should chip in and get one and make a year long POINT RACE along with all of our basement tracks...

1 Robitronic RWD class and 1 M18 PRO class....then the cheapo Xmod stock class....

The build went extremely well. Finally, a true pro-level car for 1/18! And, it is way too inexpensive, for what you get. I didn't drive it yesterday, my choices for battery and servo slowed down the project a bit. No servo saver is provided. I will report more, after the track testing, later today.
By the way, these things are going fast. If you want one, contact me today.
Any updates yet?

Solara, I would sell my current IR counting system for $250! That's with 3 transponders. $25 ea. for additional transponder (I have several).
Back to the Scalpel... Oxy--true, the steering is not centered, but it works quite well and is better than the drag link.
I intalled a KO digital micro servo, a thunder power 1320 2 cell LiPo, Quark pro car 33 amp esc, and elecrifly Outrunner 3200 kv motor.
It was challenging to get the car ballanced with the battery on one side. Some lead was required on the opposite side, along with the esc and nearly weightless Spektrum micro rx. The motor is killer! Very efficient and powerfull. I had some push issues. Will tune that out today. Overall, the car is what we have been waiting for. The diff is the best design I have incountered (ANY scale). I have 2 complaints. No servo saver included. Front spindles are sloppy on the kingpins. Other than that, car is awsome. Wheelbase measures about 130mm, width is 115mm.
I will do more test & tune today. I'll post some pictures later. It is kind of embarrasing to show it in it's current form.

no drag link:

I guess this way they eliminate more slop

I want one.. but I need a place locally that I can walk in and pay cash... don't want it to show up on the CC Bill (wifey)

I'm in NYC temporarily taking care of my sick mom, and I don't know when I'll be back in Cali (SoCal)

Yes drag link was shown on original pictures Akura.

Proof

What Im saying though is going to a submicro servo would allow you to center the spline.

Also, duneland. Its a >>2<< cell lipo. Basically you would take it apart or buy each cell individually and wire it in parallel.

Today was a race day, but I managed to get some test & tune accomplished on the new ride. I got rid of most of the slop that was present in the front spindles. Some work on tweek & balance... It is flying now. Will get a transponder in it tomorrow to compare to m18 times. Even though my weight distribution is a bit more forward than it is supposed to be (on account of the liPo), rear traction is very good. Steering improved with every outing... add a little dampening fluid, pre-load on shock spring, more tension on damper post springs, etc. Car responds in a predictable manner, to tuning changes.
I will probably go to Leisure on Wednesday to test on Racing carpet.
My surface is much harder (canvas glued to cement). While it provides a lot of traction, it is less forgiving than carpet. So far, the little KO digital is performing very well. Quark speedo & outrunner is a fantastic combo. Don't know what run time is, but I bet it is pushing one hour!

Oxy, I did not have any single cells in stock, that were of an appropriate size.
I took the wraps off of a thunder power 1320 pack, with the intent of breaking it down to single cells. Unfortunately, the cells were glued together. Seemed a little chancey to attempt seperating them. Seems to be working out OK with the pack on one side....
