If $200 for this 1/18th is too much for someone.....wait untill they see the Xray M18PRO........I am sure NO HUMAN BEING will buy that car cause it will be above $200 with no ESC and no motor...LOL

$185 is definitely a fair price for this one....even though I heard the M18PRO will be above $200 alone....but look at the stock 1/18 M18, all plastic, was $100 already. So does the antique Micro RS4....This one has alum and carbon fiber, full 1/12th design, bearing, foam tires....$80 more is not un-reasonable. I would say I will give that extra $80 for their R&D and the gust to start something that 1/18th scale suppose to be.

Also, take a look at EBAY....how many carbon fiber upgraded M18 Micro RS4 over there...? If they were all brand new....it will be WAY above $180...

Not to mention.....how much upgrade ppl will need for this 1/18th..? May be a oil shock....but I doubt ppl will need a lowering pod at the rear and lowering front arm cause they want to run super thin 1/18th scale foam tires...LOL

PS....checkout that video....the driver stand is at the SIDE of the track...WOW, talk about how difficult to see the car at the far end...also, they can use a new paint inside the buidling...

i got some info on the car for those of you who are interested. Michael Vollmer, the guy who designed the car, races at our club. I talked to him, the shock is friction only, the servo that fits best is the all-good HS-81MG, car comes with a clear body, hardest tyres in the front, softest tyres in the back, a pinion gear set. The kit available now is already the pro version, there will be a budget version in the future.

To be honest, even though BRP were the first who had the idea of an 1/18th pan car, this one is hard to beat, at least on small/tight tracks. I doubt that even a 6 cell Xray M18Pro whatever will beat this car with 4 cells, with a 8000Kv tekin or mamba set, there almost same speed. And, the Scalpel has a much lower COG, and, the way it's designed, offers more cornering speed. Even watching this tiny rocket at our club was awesome, can't wait to build mine.

There will be a full line of hopups by Robitronic, with the most important being the brushless motor plate, servo saver and three different shores front and rear. Other bling-bling aluminum parts like a aluminum bumper will also be available.

osmoser, thanks for the info!
My shipment is scheduled to arrive today! I will have mine on the track later tonight...
I would highly advise against the use of a hs81 servo! That comes from a LOT of experience with that servo in the Xray. I have a track in the store, and sold (regretably) a lot of those. MOST had serious centering problems.
Futaba 3101 is much more precise.
Anywho,,, mine will have a 2 cell LiPo & brushless outrunner in it (at least for starters). Can't wait for the UPS guy to arrive...

i think that with lipos you will have to add some weight to the rear of the car inorder to get the traction needed to go fast.

i was wondering how large your track is cause i have some space in the basement (aprox. 4 x 9 meters) and don't know if it's enough for a small indoor track

It is in a two car garage so it is about 20 feet by 20 feet.

Having seen the Scalpel in one of the magazines, my immediate impression was that this looks like a decent ride AND this would probably be the most fun of any rc car ( if I had a carpet track, that is).

Unlike the other 1/18 scales, this one keeps it simple. Good job Robi !

Solara, the motor I put in, is an outrunner with 3200 rpm per volt. Mush less rpm than the 8k mamba.
The build went extremely well. Finally, a true pro-level car for 1/18! And, it is way too inexpensive, for what you get. I didn't drive it yesterday, my choices for battery and servo slowed down the project a bit. No servo saver is provided. I will report more, after the track testing, later today.
By the way, these things are going fast. If you want one, contact me today.
