Default Little help

Does anyone know what a good starting point for gearing (pinion/spur) would be for the Scalpel 6 cell chassis? I'm running a Castle 8000k with new tires (34mm Dia RR - 32mm Dia frt). The track is ozite carpet and the dimentions are 36ft x 80ft. Will be using paragon tire traction, of course!! Is there a preferred tire Dia. with the recommended gearing? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks......

Hey Dave! Just put the smallest pinion you can fit on there and let er rip! It's pretty hard to under gear an 8k.
You putting a 2 cell lipo on there or rolls of nickles?

Just thought of something.. If you are using the stock axle, make sure you grind off the excess threads (beyond the nut). Lot's of broken t-plates from the axle catching on boards. I know, you probably wouldn't touch any boards, but it doesn't hurt to be prepaired if you let someone else drive it!.

Thanks Ron.....I have already picked up a new "Exotek" titanium rear axle. They made it stronger and lighter that the original and it's also narrower. Those pesky exposed threads don't stick out any more. And, yes, I want you to drive it too!!

If you want to test them on a track that can destroy the original tires in less than 8 laps send a set my way

Seriously... looking forward to seeing some new things coming out for the scalpel

Just wanted to show some pics of my Scalpel with my new Brown Engineering 6-cell chassis. I also wanted to thank Marvet for an excellent product and quick shipping. As you can see I added the battery straps and hardware from the earlier style 6-cell chassis. I've also added "stops" to the edges of the chassis to help retain the battery. So far, testing has been going very well and I'm really enjoying the car. Thanks again Marvet!!

The battery is a Max Amps 1720mah 7.4v lipo. I got this battery because it is a perfect fit for the Exotek Tek18 chassis and it's also a very good fit in the 6-cell Scalpel chassis'.....as you can see from the pics.
