Default aluminumknuckles and arms

I have ordered the aluminm knuckles and will post wether they remove the play from the front axles. However, there is stil the problem of the front kingpins (steering axles). If you insert a king pin into the plastic bushing in the knuckle, you can see that it has a lot of play. This is not good. The knuckle should slide freely on the kingpin but it should not wobble. That's with the kingpin right out of the pack. In order for the knuckle to have the smooth movement it's supposed to have it should be polished. Polishing the factory kingpins would make them a little smaller in diametr hence giving you even more play. I'm hoping some aftermarket company will step up to the plate and make more precise knuckles, kingpins, and bushings.

Default front end parts

My Robitronic aluminum knuckles came today and guess what. One of the knuckles is pretty tight whlie the other is loose. Definitely not worth the $37.99 + shipping I paid. No wonder the BRP boys keep making fun of the Scalpel. Come on Robitonic...GET IT TOGETHER!!!!

Do the aluminum arms have 4 degrees caster drilled in them?

I can't speak about the aluminum A-arms. I didn't get any of those...just the steering knuckles. I will probably just wait for Exotek or somebody to come out with some GOOD parts for it. You just can't go wrong with Exotek parts!

I was going to refer you to the GWS Pico receiver sold through Bane Bots but I see it is only available in 75 band. You may be crap out of luck other than what you've done.

I wouldn't buy anything 40mHz unless I KNEW it wouldn't be used in organized competition. 40mHz is illegal here in the 'states.

Some thoughts...

Is a 75mHz module available? If so, the Pico receivers are on sale for a whopping $14 each plus $6-7 for the crystal. Even if you only popped the module in to run your Scalpel that'd be ok.

Have you considered upgrading to Spektrum? I finally stepped up last spring and haven't been sorry. The Spektrum micro receiver (3500) is PERFECT for the Scalpels and is available all the time on the fs board for $75 or so.

If you can find a Novak XXL they made them as a universal 27band micro receiver in the past. I think they are now discontinued but try emailing novak to see if they have anything on hand.

I will vouch for the Spektrum 3500 also- perfect fit.

spektrum is certainly the way to go,but its very expensive(module +1rx are 200eu's=280bucks! with one rx,i need other 3 rx's)75mhz is outlaw over here, nobody realy cares but xtals and rx's are harder to find than 27mhz though, don't even know if and were to get a module for an "old" ko marsR !

Ah...hadn't realized you aren't in the 'states. 40mHz is probably fine then.

As far as prices, as strong as the Euro is against the dollar I'd be inclined to see what your "delivered" price would be from Stormer. They do a lot of overseas shipping so I'm sure they won't soak you on P + P. The $180 Spektrum Pro module plus receiver calculates to 122-123 Euro, I'd be delivered you'd be under 150. Probably closer to $140. In fact you'd probably have your module/rx plus two additional RX's and STILL be under 250E.

Just a thought if that had been an avenue you were considering. May as well take advantage of the weak dollar.

Hi Ghiro,

where do you live? I moved back from the States a few years ago and I still have a 75 MHz module for the Mars, 3 receivers (2 Ko 301 and one Novak XXL) and a few sets of crystals.

I used those for a while and it is like using Spektrum

If you are interested, I'll make you a good deal. Let me know

Thumbs up

i've made a research on Stormer, after all i think Scottrik's wright, the value over the 2'nd rx is unbeatable.I think i'll keep the 27Fm for the M2Impact and use Spektrum for both,mini-t pro and Scalpel.

What size are you guys cutting the tires down to? I noticed while putting my kit togther that the fronts is quite a bit smaller than than the rears. Is this normal for onroad cars? Or do they need to be the same size?

On a 2wd car like the scalpel, the tire diameter front to rear does not matter. The Xray M18 on the other hand is very sensitive to that.

I don't cut the tires at all, I think they are perfectly sized as they come.
