Nope. We built the thing as per the instructions and with all stock parts. The only thing that has changed is loosening those tweak screws at the base of the antenna and working with no toe-in. The nut that tightens the wheel on the diff side makes a big difference too. Play with loosening and tightening that.

We don't do 20 laps each time we make a change and only make one change at a time. Make a change maybe do five laps (on a 18th scale sized track), pull the car off make another change....all until you get it feeling neutral.

Default Hooked Up

I busted out my Scapel at the local carpet track after running my Speedmerchant and I have to say- the car is a blast and was easier to drive than some might say! Installed is a mamba 7k with stock set up and tires and a Hitec 65MG and a Rc18t servo saver mod and a GPM steel servo saver spring. I didn't hit anything so I can't vouch for how well it will hold up but time will tell. I think it'll work out

Powell Racing Components is ready to begin offering a line of parts for the Scalpel. The first is a 2mm chassis to replace the flexy stock chassis. Next, how about a 145mm 6 cell chassis? And finally what the Scalpel may need most, .063" fiberglass t-bars. We are working out part numbers and pricing but e-mail or PM for more info.

How does the scalpal motor compare with other 300 size motors?
I'm reading that the front kingpins are loose. Are they all like this and is there a fix for this?

You thought about offering mounting holes on the 6 cell chassis to put the servo behind the front suspension and allow of center point steering? Maybe even cut down 1/12th layback servo mounts to minimize bumpsteer? That would be a big advantage in offering a 6 cell.

My kingpins were loose too. I applied a little thread lock around the the axle area that gets covered by the plastic part. The drying thread lock then took up all of the slack so all is good now. I'm sure the new alloy parts will remedy everything.

Got my Parts yesterday, wow what a difference in rigidity.
Can't wait it to put it on the track. Just wish I could get rid of the bump steer.
I am working on, but its still a pain in the tail.

Default Scalpel - First test

First test with my new Scalpel.

Handles like a dream - no broken part - front wheels are all worn out.

Can anybody recommend a small receiver that is appropriate for the Scalpel? I'd prefer synth, but I'm afraid the synth capability is whats making my JR310 really too big for the chassis. I guess I could do a "crystal" receiver.

I'd like to find something fairly inexpensive...

Thanks,

Scottrik
