Duneland, what material is that? Any cutouts? Thx.
It's called 'corelite'. It is layed up with carbon fibers around a core of micro balloons/epoxy. Results in a lighter material (comapared to a solid carbon/epoxy layup). No cut outs. This chassis is considerably stiffer than original (also thicker). I used it based on an exhaustive, scientific analysis of stress loads-harmonics-strength to weight ratio, and numerous other factors.
Translation- I had a piece on hand.
I got that stuff from Aerospace Composites. Don't think they are around anymore.
I made the chassis a little wider than original, so I could use some single cell 1500 LiPos I had in stock(they didn't fit very well on the original).
Aerospace Composites is still around. As a matter of fact, that's where I get all my carbon fiber. They don't make corelite anymore, though. I forget who was making the chassis out of that stuff but they fell out of favor with ACP and they stopped making it. They do make a bunch of other cool composite sandwich materials now, though. Thanks for the info.

I am pleased to announce Doug Powell of Prc is willing to design a chassis for a scalpel. We have been discussing the wheel base to better improve on a great staring point for a car that is capable already. Email him at quad12@comcast.net.
He would like to see how much interest there is. Guys Good LUck.!
