Hey, while you all are there, can you constantly bug the HPI guys asking "So about that MRS4 2.." or "Gee, sure be nice to see a MRS42". If nothing else chant "MRS42" on the drivers stand as a group.
Hah, you got that right. I'm sure you're running the EXO-2 chassis. I was sooo jealous when it came out, but couldn't justify dropping the cash for it. Got any of those EXO-2's in the clearance bin for a EXO fan?
Boy- really wish I had an extra one but not at this time I'll PM you though if something comes up.
Was cleaning mine up this evening. Should be a blast with the new battery and motor rules
I've been swapping over the chassis the other nite..Removing the one I've been running and going back to the Ratzas - unless you got any "old stock" of the Exo's Mike

Hey Roy - I answered in your other thread, I think the Graupner would probably be the better way to go, but for the $8 the Fireball might not be a bad investment.

Most of the time my brushed mod motors are faster but 20% of the time they hang a brush or act weird in that it won't run so I figure the brushless is more dummy proof for me :P
Mike - what controller are you using?? I'm running my tekin with the mini-rage and have very little clogging...hmmmm, and I think I got mine with the base settings as well...

on the box stock version, no - there was no oil shock..
but on the plus side, you can use an AE micro 12th scale shock on the rear...Not sure how well it will mount up with the stock decks - but I know the "old" ExoTek Exo chassis, the penguin and the Ratzas chassis rear deck were all set-up to run the oil shock..
Actually, for that matter - any 12th scale micro shock should work...I've run an AE one and the new IRS rear shock on mine
BUt i'm wondering if the front shock made for an 18R or a 18T might work as well...I think the MIni-T's might be too long, however

I just received the Fireball from Tower. The can looks pretty small. I'll do a comparison test with my orion bb and the fireball and post results.

I'm going to try the mamba 25 and see. Last time I used it it cogged but I'll have to mess with the settings some more I guess and run a bigger capacitor... You say you have very little cogging but that means you still have some cogging? My real goal is zero cogging.

I wouldn't say zero - but it was pretty damn close
I need to actually mess with the settings on mine for outdoor on asphalt Never tried that - last time I ran my mRS4 outside, it had 5 cells and the HPI "mod" motor So this time, it will be just a "little" change
140mm wheelbase and a nice low, wide body and I'll be in business

Okay, I'm a bit rusty on my micro setups. Wanted to know what the hot setup is as far as foam tires for asphalt racing. I seem to remember orion soft wides for the rear and trc med or soft wides for the front. Maybe it was orion front and trc rear? Help me out guys, I'm getting old. I'm running the micro in a warm up race this sunday and want to pick up some new tires.
Just wanted to let everybody here know that Integy is blowing out their hop ups for the MRS4. I just picked up 7 different pinions, alum motor/axle mount & CF rear deck for $34. Since I live 2 miles from them I ordered last night and picked up at lunch today.

So did you find your hpi legal tires? Got mine but I hope there's enough of us for a micro mod class at the challenge. Can't wait to run sunday

No, I couldn't find the foams anywhere. Ultimate was the only store that had any. There website listed the soft and hard front and rear in stock. When I drove 20 miles there, I found they only had 2 sets of hard fronts.
I bought a couple of other thing for my R40 and left. Decided to run what I had at La Mirada. On Sunday, I discovered that Orion soft foams wern't hooking up at all. The only thing that worked were the soft rear rubber. I used them on all 4 corners till I cracked a rim and the tire wouldn't stay on. I'll just pick up another set of the soft rubber for this Sunday. The only disadvantage is all that traction slows the car down. I might drop a tooth on the pinion. Hopefuly the other guys that like to run micro from San Diego will come up for the race.
Good to race with you last week. Sorry you had motor problems. I think your car was pretty good otherwise. That's exactly why I opted for the mamba- my brushed motors kept frying at the worst times
Let's hope there's another HPI race in November- should be fun!
It was good to race with you too. I had a great time racing. Now I understand what you were talking about on the brushed vs brushless. I have had problems with the motor not working at times in the past, but I never knew exactly what the problem was. Usually it would just start working again. I guess that would be hanging a brush. I do think that I just fried the motor at the challenge. I thought I dumped in the second heat, but now I'm pretty sure thats when it fried it. I was using a 12 tooth pinion and probably should have been using the 11.
A November challenge would be great! I'd be there for sure. You car was really planted in the main. You sure you wern't just taking it easy on the rest of us untill the money round?
I ended up using the soft wide for the rear and the medium narrow for the front. It gave me the best balance of grip. The only drawback is that the front med's wear out really fast.
I also talked to the HPI guys about the future of the 1/18th micro and they didn't have any real information either way.
